Anyone notice the front end scraping when entering/exiting driveways...like shopping centers and restaurants?

I know you can angle your way in, but sometimes you have to make a very quick left to get in between traffic and there is only one way in....straight.

I'm still in shopping mode for the GS and it must be the places I frequent, because in my previous sedans, they all scraped.
you think a car bumper is really gonna make that kind of damage to concrete?

Just one of those things you have to get used to. I can come inches from the curb consistently with my 2IS after 5 years of driving it. With the 4GS.. front feels way longer and probably is, just need to get used to it.

I've tried to stop driving in and I actually made the mistake again and this was even closer than before.

What we need is a microswitch under the bumper tied in to the brake assist feature. The instant before the bumper is about to scrape, the brakes slam on.

...

No?

ROFLMAO. I had the emergency brake assist engage twice in a 4Runner. Both times would have caused an accident if someone was close behind me. First case I was driving though a parking lot at about 10 mph and saw a parking place I just passed. With my apparently cat like reflexes I hit the brake so fast it thought it was a panic stop and slammed them on. Other time the vehicle in front of me stopped unexpectedly. Same thing, I hit the brakes hard, then realized I had plenty of room and took my foot off the brake. Touched the brake lightly to bring the car to a normal stop and the brake assist slammed them back on. Face plant! I'm not a fan of brake assist.

I measure the curb and the driver side mirror. If they line up, I am safe with a little gap in front of the bumper. It works for me but that does not mean it will work for you. Let find out how many people can use this method and be okay without hitting the front bumper. Maybe we should take a poll and see. LOL

The previous owner of my car wasn't as careful. I got a bottle of touch-up paint for the scratches. About $12 from the stealer.

You get used to it (the low height). My stock minivan is lower than my stock GS F Sport, to the point that the minivan scrapes on curbs that the Lexus doesn't. While there probably are standards for curb heights, I doubt they are followed religiously, so any vehicle too close to the limit is sure to get some scrapes from time to time (like my minivan!). In my S2000 (with coilovers that place the car several inches lower than the picture) you just get used to it and don't even attempt to come close to any curb.
