Default You chose Gs350F instead of IS350F...why?

Test drove the 2014 IS350 today. I previously tested the GS350F Sport. IS is more nimble and rear seats let down.(I'm a musician). Have two kids in car seats...GS has a little more space. Dad needs handling and speed...I ride motorcycles so canyon carving and high speed country crossing are high on the list of monthly activities. The little IS350 handled very well. I'm shopping Lexus even though the local shops and local favorite sedans in my small town are Audi, BMW. Thanks for your insight.

Is the GS F Sport sporty enough?

Welcome! I personally find the GS more than sporty, especially in sport +; even more so when optioned up with rear steer. If I'm not mistaken, the new IS is based off the GS so the f-sport variants will be very similar. The biggest difference is interior appointments really. Virtually every surface is soft to the touch in the GS.

The IS is just too small. I sat in the new one and got right back out and didn't care to even pay any more attention to it.

Personally, I would chose the GS over the IS. Not because IS is not as good as a GS. In fact, I love the interior design and the dash board of the new 2014 IS. It uses the LFA design and all are digital. Even the temperature selection high to low are all touch mode.

I choose the GS because of the roomier interior. In addition, it still has an agressive looks when compared to the IS.

Functionality wise, I believe both cars have alomst the same engine spec, interior are quite relatively comfortable, and the rides are both very smooth. On top of that, both are LEXUS fmaily.

So, I love both cars!! What am i typing about...

I'm sure the IS is faster, it's probably a lot lighter.

I'm not 21 anymore, so no IS for me. (I had an IS 300 when they first came to the states - it was a fun car).

The cars are different. The IS is more nimble and sportier, the GS is more solid, its bigger, has more road presence, its more mature. Interior is better, better materials.

Its like a 3 series vs a 5 series. I love the new IS, but I would never buy one to drive every day.

Choose????

Honestly if you can GS all the way.. IS is missing quite a few things to me but still a great car and works well for its price point.

Biggest factor between the two for me was the interior. I'm only 5'6" and still felt the IS was just too small.

there really is no comparison, it's like comparing a 3 series to a 5 series, a4 to an a6, c class to an e class.

speed wise, the IS is about 200lbs lighter, but i have not seen an IS beat the GS's 13.9@102 and 0-60 in 5.5 that road and track did. i know in real world, the IS should win, but just saying.

i love the new IS f sport, but it won't have the presence/maturity and quality of a GS, plus i think the GS looks better, a much as i love the IS f sport's grill, the front end is a bit stranger, but overall it is a good looking car.

Can't go wrong with either one. IS would be nimbler definitely. GS more room and more luxurious. Whatever floats your boat. I feel like I could've gone either way, just couldn't pass up the deals on the GS and lack of them on the IS (at least in my area).

Wat? The GS beat the IS in 0-60? That doesn't seem possible. My GS350 F Sport feels so lazy coming off the line in 1st gear even in sport+. I wonder what kind of magic they performed...or if I underestimate this car.

GS is more of a full sized sedan. IS i consider as a sport compact. If i was a bit older and didn't modify as much, GS is the way to go. Beautiful cars.
