Default Just bought a Passport 9500ix and need some help hardwiring it..

So I just picked up a passport 9500ix blue display and will be mounting it on my mirror..
First of all I bought a MirrorMount™ has anyone tried one of these on there GS350?
I did not want to spend $80 on a blendmount so I got this one for $30..
I also bought a Passport iQ STEALTH MIRROR Direct Cord that I believe connects to the mirror power or rain sensing wipers can someone post some pics on how and where they connected theres?
I also bought a Radar Detector Direct Wire Power Cord but I belive this one has to run to the fusebox , correct?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/190897047033...84.m1497.l2649

Which wire would you use to connect and why?
do I really need a smart-cord to mute it or is it within reach when connected to the mirror so I really do not need the hassle of getting a smart-cord or one of these with a mute button?http://www.ebay.com/itm/ESCORT-9500i-9500ix-S2-C65-8500-X50-POWER-SMART-CORD-/220311439485?pt=US_Radar_Laser_Detectors&hash=item334b95c87d

You spend $60,000 on a new car and can't spend an extra $50 to get the best mount?! Blend Mount is the only wayto go in my opinion...I have it and it is solid, does not vibrate, has multiply adjustments. I had Lexus install it for me. They did not charge me, since they owed me for something else.

Go to this thread, it has some pics and pretty straight forward directions. I followed that thread to hardwire my 9500ix. However, I didn't use the blendmount as i feel it just kinda gets in the way, i just used some 3M double sided tap and stuck it up high adjacent to the rear view mirror. Much better IMHO...

Default I did not bay a $60K car , I leased a car for $599 a month for 26 months..

The $50 a saved pays for 1/12 of my car payment every month.. I save $50 another 11 times and that is my car not for the month.. I went to that thread but did not see any pics of the wire from the rain sensing wipers.. I saw in the IS thread there was one pic of a wire with 3 wires comming out of the rain sensing wiper is it also 3 wires in our cars? Can someone post a pic of the wire that I hard mount it to.. After I install my 9500 by myself I would have saved another $50 so that is 1/6 of my monthly car note.. It is not about being cheap it is about being smart , why pay double for something when I can buy something that does the same exact thing for 1/2 the price?

if you go to amazon you will see that blandmount got 4.6 out of 5 and theMirrorMount™ got 4.3 out of 5.. So why pay more then double for a product that is .3 of a point better? If the mirror mount had a score of 2.0 then the blandmount would seem to be double as good to command double the price but with those reviews it seems like only a sucker would pay more then double for a procuct that was not even a half a point higher scored..

see for yourself...

Wow only 1 useful reply. Who cares what mount he picked it'll accomplish the same thing. And you can't say "it's the best" without trying another product to compare it to.

Anyway, in the thread referenced by homeboyv, this post says which wires to tap into:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/7706868-post28.html

Just pull off the panel and verify the wires

The smaller harness with the 3 wires in the following picture is the rain sensor (white/pink/green). The red wire on the mirror tap goes to the pink wire on the sensor. I recommend getting a voltmeter to make sure you are connecting to the +12V. As far as grounding, there are a few bolt openings in the frame under that trim piece, I grounded mine with a bolt to one of those. Its all in that thread if you need any additional info. Its really not that hard to do, took me like 10 minutes at most....

Is it the wire on the right?
Is there not a ground wire on the wire so instead of grounding it to a bolt I can just ground it to a wire..

Stoned, I wired mine up a few months ago and used the red wire from the mirror tap to the pink wire on the sensor plug. Then, I used the black wire on the mirror tap to the white wire on the plug. It has been that way since and works like a champ. It looks like some the guys in here use a different ground and that would probably work fine too. It's just personal preference I guess. It's really not a complicated process so best of luck to you.

Ya its the harness on the right there. The ground is about preference like MichaelPea stated, I just prefer not wiring grounds into the cars ground wires as proper grounding has always been an issue for me with headunit installations but that probably doesn't apply here. Up to you, the frame is right under that trim piece so its not any more difficult...
