Question [HELP] Sub+Amp is making fuel cover rattle really bad!

Hello,

I've just added my old soundsystem from my is350 to gs350 (a simple Amp+subwoof) However now I have a bigger problem, the fuel tank cover rattles reallly really bad. If I'm inside the car I wont hear or notice it, however from outside it sounds really loud and bad. However if i pop the trunk it wont shake that much but I'm not gonna be driving with the trunk open :X

Here is the video let me know if anyone has ideas or how to solve it

Are you sure it's the fuel tank cover? It sounds kind of odd that it would be rattling like that. Are you sure it's not your license plate/license plate cover? If it stops rattling when you open the trunk that's probably what it is. Just stick some dynamat behind the license plate, that solved the rattling issue in my 2GS ...

No dynomat installed but do they really do the trick ? and if I get them where do you recommand to install it ? Inside the fueltank ? the subwoof ?

and Yes I'm pretty sure its the fuel tank cover cause if i push on to it while the music is on it wont rattle, and I can CLEARLY see that the fuel tank cover is ready to pop out

[SOLVED]

After taking it in to the place where I got it done, all of us were just thinking what is making that rattle. and BOOM it hit us. Automatic Fuel Tank cover or w/e that is called. Since we dont flip the switch anymore to pop the fuel tank cover. That has automatic lock and unlock feature I believe. Since everytime I got out of the car with my keys in the pocket to examine that rattle noise, the fuel tank cover unlocked causing to rattle it alot. However when I'm driving or if my keys are far way from the car the rattle noise is almost all gone. & with the help from the shop they have added dynamat inside the fuel tank cover to minmize the shock.

hope noone else freaks out when they add a soundsystem.

Yea that sounds like it. The fuel door unlocks when the doors unlock. Glad you found a solution.

nice to know how that functions. I would think it only unlocks when you touch it. Did you try to set your doors to unlock only the driver side? That might do it unless the fuel door unlocks no matter how you set it.

btw, did your install run a positive line from the battery or did he just tap the power from somewhere else?

Hmmm you got me thinking cause I have my setup to unlock all door, maybe I should try that, and I'll let you know.

And he ran the whole line from the battery, and installed a little control **** to control the bass.

Dynamat that trunk... that will fix it. you can even put a strip or two inside the gas door, and the dynamat now comes in black. i had that problem in a previous car and took it to a car audio shop where they removed the whole trunk liner down to bare metal and dynamatted the whole trunk and replaced the carpet liner. i had the doors done also. it works... trust me. is your license plate or frame or both rattling? dynamat has a license plate frame to prevent that.

You are right. The fuel unlock was one of the loudest out of all the locks too.
