Eco and Sport Lamps
I have read the owners manual and have turned on the Eco and Sport lamps through the Display menu situated in the centre of the instrument cluster. These lamps seem to operate the same way pedestrian signal buttons do at cross-walks...nothing happens.
I have a Canadian spec-ed AWD with the technology package. My expectation is that the blue glow at the top of the instrument cluster glows in accordance to how eco-friendly I am driving. Conversely, I am expecting a red glow to replace the blue when in Sport or Sport+ driving modes. But alas...nothing happens. The dealer tells me that the lamps are operating correctly...nothing should happens.
Here is what the manual says:
ECO lamp and SPORT lamp
● When sport mode is selected, SPORT lamp (red) will illuminate.
● When all of the following conditions are satisfied and Eco-friendly driving, ECO
lamp (blue) will illuminate. (ECO lamp will become brighter the more Eco-friendly
driving you perform. Also, while the acceleration exceeds Zone of Eco driving,
ECO lamp turns off. (→P. 88) However, when Eco drive mode is selected, while
the acceleration exceeds Zone of Eco driving, ECO lamp does not turn off.):
• Driving with the shift lever in D
• Paddle shift switch is not operated.
• Either normal mode or Eco drive mode is selected.
• The vehicle speed is approximately 80 mph (130 km/h) or below
I apologize I have some photos on my Blackberry but they are not clear enough to post.
Has anyone got some ideas as to how to enable the lamps to behave as the manual promises or at least what is actually suppose to happen.

My lamps all work fine, I would ask the dealer about this. Even tho they said its working fine, have them check all the settings and make sure that they light up correctly, that's all I can tell u. Or maybe the Canadian version is different then the US version?

Mine works as the manual states - in sport or sport +, the speedometer illumination is red. In regular or eco mode, it is blue, more pronounced the more eco-friendly I drive.
I would show the section of the manual to your dealer and have it checked

Thank-you that is what I though pursue this with my dealer and Lexus, if needed.
After all the new cross walk signals really do work these days, they even have audible countdowns.

The blue in eco mode will change depending on how conservatively you are driving. But I think the red is constant in sport mode. It doesn't change intensity with how you drive.

The cluster remains a constant blue in all modes.
Terrycs, you remind me of an old joke in the IT field.
How many developer does it take to change a light-bulb...none, it is a hardware problem! Sorry I could not help myself.

You should check your display settings. It sounds like the lights are turned off.
while in park get into the settings using the 'DISP' button on the steering wheel.
go to the sport light option and choose ON and you will get continuous red when in S or S+
Then go to the ECO light option and choose either ON for continuous or choose the other option (I don't remember what it says) that will give you the changing blue depending on how you are driving.
Hope that helps.

The options are described on p 779 of the manual:
