Default Lexus Warranty

As i know that lexus cars warranty is 5 years with unlimited milage. However as i have been told by their salesman that i should do all the services in approved lexus service center otherwise the warranty will be not valid or canceled. I need all of you to share what is the warranty policy ?!

I'm pretty sure that is illegal. It has been discussed on other car forums (MB and BMW) and has been found to be illegal. As long as you have documentation that you have had the required services performed, your warranty cannot be cancelled because they weren't performed at the dealership.

What! The warranty is 4 years/50,000 miles and you can service where ever you please, they can't void the warranty because of that. The only thing is if you get your shocks replaced and sed shocks break a week later they will not replace them, since you got the work done somewhere else and not at Lexus.

Its 4 years not 5, you have to be able to prove that all scheduled maintenances and recomendations have been done by a lic mechanic if you cant reproduce that they will void everything. Speaking from experience

Is that NY only I have never had this issue in Beantown. We can't have them fix something that another person has fixed, but if I get my check ups and my spark plugs done somewhere else they can't void my warranty, they can only say that they won't fix the damage caused by the spark plugs, The sounds like some illegal crap I've never heard that.

Lexus will not fix under warranty anything that you or some shop have tampered with.

A manufacturer cannot refuse to honor the warranty if your vehicle has been maintained someplace other than the dealer, and they also cannot void your warranty because you yourself did the maintenance, just keep good records.

Even if you did no maintenance, they would have to show that your lack of maintenance caused the problem. For instance, failure to change the oil wouldn't void the warranty on the window motors...

Thats the law...

I will call the chamber of commerce to complain about lexus dealer for trying to obligate us to make the services in his workshop otherwise he will cancel the warranty. I am servicing my car outside with original parts for 60% lower than dealer workshop price & i am responsible for what i am repairing or servicing outside dealer workshop.

Thats just the thing...they can't cancel the warranty...its not theirs to cancel.

Don't complain to the chamber of commerce, thats not going to get you anywhere. Call Lexus.

Changing oil and spark plugs elsewhere other than Lexus, won't void your warranty. Don't listen to them. The problems start when you modify the car, install lowering springs or coilovers, take your dashboard apart to install navi lockout bypass units...ect In this case they can refuse to fix your car under warranty.

They can refuse to fix it under warranty if they can show those things contributed to the specific failure.

Exactly, I recall when I lowered my car with the F-Sport springs my service rep said if the struts went it wouldn't be covered because they were not original OEM parts. Although he said he would help me he said he had to advise me that.

Lexus has no responsibility to repair any after-market parts. I wouldn't expect them to cover anything after-market, or any damage caused by installation of after-market parts.

If the dealer installs OEM F-Sport springs, they should be covered under the warranty...
