Default Outside temperature reading off

Greetings, I have a 2013 GS350 and the outside temperature reading is always about 5 degrees off. When it is 40 outside according to weather.com and all the bank signs, the car outside temperature reading says 45. It consistantly says that it is 5 degrees hotter outside than it really is.

Anyone else experiencing this? Do I have a bad sensor that needs to be replaced, or is there a design flaw in the sensor or where it is positioned?

Thanks,

Arkie

I never use my car thermometer unless I want to laugh. There is no way it is ever right. Damn thing said it was 42, so I thought I'd be able to wash it....hahaha...slipping and sliding all over the place. 30 was actual. POS.

I believe it can be adjust by dealer. Call your dealer and ask. They need to hook up the Techstream to do the offset adjustment.

Mine seems to be very accurate. Temperature reading when driving on hot roads (blacktop, etc.) will always be 2-3 degrees warmer than ambient temperature. And when leaving a warm garage in cold weather, it will take 5-10 minutes of driving for the temp gauge to adjust to the change. My BMW reacts the same way. Let us know if Lexus can re-calibrate your sensor. I'll bet they will have to replace it if they determine it is not within specs.
