I made sure the putty on the back of the driver's mirror was positioned to stick again and made sure everything clicked properly back in place.
Hey man I'm planning on attacking this mod on my 2016 es this weekend. What exactly is that white glue stuff? And also do you think I should be able to do this easily? Do you have any tips?

The white glue stuff helps hold the mirror to the backing plate that it sits on. When you tilt the mirror up and get your fingers underneath, once you pull forward/up, you will essentially be pulling the mirror off the clips it sits on. Some folks have the glue, some haven't seen it. On my 4GS, the glue was apparent on the driver side, but there was none on the passenger side.

Make sure you're comfortable with the installation and take it slow and steady. Make sure you don't rush through and follow the original DIY on here (i imagine the ES mirrors should be very similar but you may want to post in that forum to see if anyone has any specific experience with it).

I did this same mod on my '11 IS350 and my '13 GS and the steps were exactly the same. You'll get through it pretty easily - its an easy DIY don't worry!

Hrmm.. anyone have suggestion on which bulb/brand to use? Earlier posts suggested the Sylvania LED and later in the posts, people suggested the VLEDS flank ones. Has anyone compared the two with their puddle lights or does you guys have any other recommendations?

I did it today on my 2016 es so freaking easy the difficulty is greatly exaggerated. These mirrors will not break I promise you. Used the precision led video. And use a pry tool as shown in the video. Here is a before and after

I used these leds for my 2016 es and my brothers accord. For my es tho my main interior lights come stick led I only changed mirror door trunk and side marker and puddle lights. Theses are Samsung and they are excellent no flikering at all either. Had them on for a year.

Got it done with 10 mins on the driver's side and 20 mins on the passenger side. I could not get the signal light to sit flush with the mirror cover and it bothered me. Finally just used my finger to push the signal in place.

Point to note, not to have the keys on you as it turns on the puddle lamp due to proximity. bulb was burning hot to swap out, d'oh.

I followed the guide from precisionLED and it was spot on. I used a flat metal object and just wrapping it with electrical tape. Pried the bottom 2 clips first then the top 2. Undid the 5 screws, and pulled the mirror cover off and replaced the bulb. literally took me about 2 minutes. Longest part was undoing the 5 screws... Thank you for this!
