I just hope that Lexus doesn't deliberately cripple the GS in terms of mid-cycle refreshes, new engines and delaying the introduction of new tech into the GS line-up in an effort to artificially keep the current ageing LS as "Top Dog" in the Lexus lineup while waiting for a genuinely new LS to debut in 2014.
Lexus, you just hit a home-run with the new GS. Don't cannibalize your younger son just to keep your older son looking good. The LS should stand and fall on its own merits not just in comparison to a junior model ( the GS ) that's deliberately held back so as not to outshine the senior model ( the LS ).
Lexus should maintain the momentum it's achieved with the GS and roll out improvements relentlessly so as to maintain the hype and interest about the GS brand. I'm thinking new mainstream engines in the next 6 months, even more suspension upgrades like active anti-roll bars and a GS-F in the next 1 year.

I love everything Lexus has done with the 4GS, but IMHO the Tesla is a more groundbreaking car because it is one of the fastest sedans in the market and runs on electricity. What could be more groundbreaking than that?
As for Lexus focusing more resources on the LS, it is a more profitable car for them so it makes business sense. With that said, I love the new LS interior, but I can't get it in Cabernet.

I have over 10,000 miles on my 350 "F" Sport and love the car... but I have to say, If you haven't driven the Tesla Model "S", get to a Tesla Store and drive it. It's by far the quickest production car I have been in. The ride and handling are nice as well. The interior takes some getting used to though. With everything being controlled by the 17" touchscreen, it's kind of stark. I think my wifes next car will be the Model "X" when it comes out in 2014... nothing like an SUV that will outrun a BMW M5, or Porsche 911.
