Lexus is aware and has two scheduled updates in the works. Phase one is the phone app update, which has already taken place on both the Android and IOS. Phase two will be the Enform app suite in the vehicle (date not yet confirmed).
This is not a bug, it is the only way that it can currently work with the iPhone (I understand it's not what people want to hear). It is also mentioned in the owner's manual.
I hope this helps.

Definitely! Thanks for the update, good to know the second part is in the works (hopefully sooner than later!). It has great potential but is definitely frustrating when it doesn't work. Thanks!

The LS 460 has this, it's called Brake Hold.

Sorry I missed your question earlier.
To advance to the next available radio station you use the same arrow buttons on your steering wheel as you would to advance to the next preset. Except in this case you hold the button down until it beeps and then release it. It should seek to the next station.

That a great feature. But what really bugs me is that the preset stations only display the number instead of the name of the station. This is useless and a waste, given the screen resolution and the large size of the on-screen buttons. . Honda civics display both the name and number on the presets. Has this always been the case with Lexus? I hope there is a fix because displaying the number on satellite is ridiculous.

I want to take a quick moment to introduce myself (us). We are the Vehicle Technology Specialists at a North Texas Lexus Dealership. I won't give the name of the dealership since we are not here to promote ourselves or try to sell cars; our sole purpose is to assist fellow Lexus owners and enthusiast.
I have many years of Lexus experience, and my two assistants are very resourceful. I have chosen the forums I support based on the cars I have owned. I am currently a fourth gen. GS 350 owner/enthusiast so I will be here most of the time.
We don’t have all the answers, but we have many recourses. We will do our best to only reply with the most accurate and current information available.
I must point out we are NOT Lexus employees but we are Lexus trained. We work for a dealership, and we are contributing to the forum on our own accord.
Thanks, and I look forward to contributing to Club Lexus!

I recently purchased a 2012 LS 460 wtih a ML system. I found that when I played DVD-A, all would play fine while the eBrake was set, but when the eBrake was released, some (not all) would simply start repeating the first 3 seconds of the song over and over. It was very annoying and troublesome that recent versions of ML audio would not work properly with specialty media it was documented as being capable of reading.
At first, I got all sorts of non-sensical explanations - like the media was scratched. How can scratched media work fine when the eBrake was set, but then have an affect on playback when the eBrake was release? Seems the focus of the service center and technical specialist was to find something wrong with the media, such as something that was not supported by the ML system when it would work under a set eBrake and not work under a release eBrake. C'mon, people should use their heads better before trying to offer an explanation.
Anyway, the technical specialist was stumped and started a ticket to determine the reason. In the meantime, I found a setting under DVD Audio Settings called Auto Start. It defaults to On. When turned Off, the problem resolved itself.
My question (sorry it took so long to get to the question), why does the eBrake have any affect on DVD-A playback. I realize DVD-Videos stop playing the video portion when the eBrake is disengaged, but even the audio will continue to play after the eBrake is released.
Pioneer gave an equally lame explanation. In my opinion, its a software/firmware/eBrake bug. I would be curious what information and explanation you could provide on this.

One of the dealerships in my area has a service advisor designated as the technology specialist. I think this person is actually an employee of the service center.

I also tested it in a 2013 GS 350 with the same results.
I can also confirm the issue does not occur in a 2009 LS 460 (Gen 5).
Unfortunately I was not able to change anything in the settings to eliminate this behavior.
I will bring in more DVD-A discs on Monday to try and determine the cause.

Using a DVD-A demo disc I have here I can confirm the issue you are describing in a 2012 LS 460 (Gen 6).
I also tested it in a 2013 GS 350 with the same results.
I can also confirm the issue does not occur in a 2009 LS 460 (Gen 5).
Unfortunately I was not able to change anything in the settings to eliminate this behavior.

I have already determined the resolution and posted the information on CL at this location:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...-ls-460-a.html
In short, go to DVD Audio Settings and change the Auto Start default setting of On to Off. This will allow all DVD-As to play without interruption.
The problem also exists in the 2011 LS 460 (probably also Gen 6).
Pioneer gave some explanation of how the disc is mastered for Auto Cursor, which is completely believable. However, why the player has no problem with Auto Cursor when the eBrake is set vs. disabled is still a mystery.
The following is the response I got from Pioneer:
There are 2 issues for this symptom.
1) DVD Audio format.
We found that the most of DVD-A in a market have Auto Cursor to Menu. This DVD has Auto Cursor to the beginning of song. - This is up to DVD creator's choice.
It is like when you play back DVD-Movie, DVD player stops at the menu and wait for user's command.
2) When Auto Start is ON.( Factory default for LS.) If a customer inserts the DVD (Auto Cursor to the song), EMVN (Navigation unit) will issue command (we call it Enter Command) to EMVA (Radio) every
3 seconds. EMVA brings it back to the beginning of the song. Then, play for
3 seconds. EMVN send a new enter command to EMNA. EMVA brings Laser Diode to the beginning of the song. -- Keep repeating 3 seconds.
If a customer inserts the DVD with Auto Cursor to the Menu (typical DVD), EMNA will ignore the command. There is no repeat of song.
Lexus Auto Start is meant to work with Auto cursor to Menu DVD. As I mentioned, this is unusual editing.
We recommend to set Auto Start Off for your customer ( you have done this) due to unusual disc editing.

MarkGS,
I want to thank you for bringing this to my attention. It is not anything I have come across yet (not too many DVD-A listeners in our area I guess). I will try to get over the the Lexus training facility in Coppell early next week to see what I can find out.

Question on DTS format decoding
Thank you for answering all the tech questions on this thread.
Can you please confirm that the 2013 GS350 ML audio and all 2013+ Lexus no longer support decoding of DTS audio format on DVDs. I still find it hard to believe that a premium multichannel system can not decode one of the most popular multichannel formats.
Also, is there any way to support display of unicode text (i.e. Chinese song titles) on the 12.3" nav display?
Thanks.
