I am 6'2" and about to purchase a 2009 GS350 until I test drove this afternoon. First thing that came to me was that I did not have a lot of headroom. I played with the seat a bit, putting it down as far as possible, but appear there just might not be enough headroom.
Anyone have any new experiences with headroom and are 6'1" and over.
Guess what I am looking for is to see if it is possible to lower the seat , lean back a tad and maybye use any controls the steering may have...
Err love the car, but fitting into the vehicle is kinda a big issue

i agree with REX... roomy cushy ride... get the ES. i have a 2013 ES350 Satin Cashmere as a loaner. not only can you see how much roomier it is, you can feel it.

headroom
Checked out a GS350. I'm 6' 2" and agree about the lack of headroom. Just feels cramped. I own a "grandpa car" LS430. For tall guys, it's heavenly. Also always LOL about the old guy comment. Punch the throttle and 100mph happens pretty quickly. The 60-0 braking is excellent. Per measurements almost as quite as a Bentley. Dull look but a nice car in many ways.

For tall (blessed) males I feel as though a ES or LS (lexus sedans) will do more and provide more headroom versus the GS. The GS, to me, feels more of a sportier sedan versus the ES and LS.

I just got my 4GS, I'm 6'3" and find it to have plenty of headroom, and I sit more erect than most folks. Everybody's body is different, as you're experiencing. Honestly I found a 2004 MDX to lack headroom compared to my 4GS, due to having an even more erect seating position for my comfort.
On the flip side, in my older Accord my wife could barely reach the pedals, and she's average Japanese height. Point is -- cars are made differently for different markets and no one car fits everybody. I know a 6'6" guy who fits fine in a Miata. Go figure.
I know the AWD changes the driver floor well space, does it also alter the seat mounting/height? Also were you in a base or one of the upgraded packages?

I would have to agree with OP. I am 6.1 and coming from accord and maxima before that I was surprised by how upright and close to the ceiling I sit in my GS.
But... here is an interesting point. While at the autoshow in NY I sat in GSF and yes it has completely different seats but I was able to lower the seat to my liking without a problem. So, it must be the seats? They just don't go down as much in "regular" GS. I wish there was a DIY to lower the seats more.
