The front-end of the regular GS (non F-sport) looks surprisingly good in this picture below:

I'm not sure if it's the good color choice or the angle of the photography. Regardless, it looks good (not as good as F-sport front) but still good

Anyways, here the full press article from Top Gear Philippines:
http://www.topgear.com.ph/news/lexus...eveals-pricing

Lexus Manila officially introduced the all-new, fourth-generation GS sedan last night at its lone showroom in Bonifacio Global City. The new GS has three models--the GS250, the GS350 and the GS450h--but for now Lexus will only sell the standard and F Sport versions of the GS350. The hybrid GS450h, which replaces the old V8 model in the GS lineup, will follow middle of this year.

The GS250, meanwhile, won't make it to our market as it is not covered by the tax exemption afforded by the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement. Under JPEPA, only Japan-sourced cars with an engine displacement of at least three liters are exempt from import duties. The GS250 is equipped with a 2.5-liter gasoline V6.

But Filipino buyers won't miss much in the GS250 as the GS350 is already an unbeatable proposition. Powered by a 3.5-liter gasoline V6, the GS350 looks great, drives perfectly well, and has all the bells and whistles that would shame a gadgets store. (For more on this car, grab a copy of our March 2012 issue, which documents our intimate encounter with the car in Southern California late last year.)

Oh, the price? The standard GS350 costs P4.238 million, while the GS350 F Sport goes for P4.818 million.

Meanwhile, here's a quote from Toyota Motor Philippines president Michinobu Sugata: "When we launched the LFA last year, we promised that the lessons learned from developing a supercar would eventually filter down into the rest of our vehicles."

Added Lexus Manila president Danny Isla: "We have already released a unit to a very happy customer. He actually just sent me a message to say that he had a blast driving the car, and that he got into trouble with his wife for the way he drove it."

Lexus' all-new 2012 GS 350 and GS 350 F Sport lands in Manila

Words by Niky Tamayo | Photos courtesy of Lexus Inc.

The Lexus GS has always been a humble alternative to iconic sports sedans such as the BMW 5-Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class. The conservative, "we're a reliable luxury car", Lexus. But that was the old Lexus. Of late, they've been doing things a little differently. The LF-A supercar was the first sign of Lexus' new direction - a taste of being avante-garde, exciting, and radical, even. And inheriting some of the LF-A's attributes, the radical all-new 2012 GS 350 and it's athletic brother, the GS 350 F Sport, is here and its ready to take on the competition.

The new GS from Lexus strikes with an imposing countenance that projects both futurism and luxury at the same time. The head honchos at Lexus Manila Inc. sure looked happy when they launched the new car last Tuesday, as well they should.

While the silhouette looks similar to the outgoing model, this new luxury sedan is ever-so-slightly bigger. Detail changes on the outside give it better aerodynamics and cooling than before, while inside, it offers more interior space and a 25% larger trunk.

Needless to say, the cabin looks fantastic. It's more driver-centric and Lexus' Remote Touch system promises to minimize the driver-distraction quotient all too common with today's touch screen interfaces. The all-new GS also features Lexus' Drive mode selector, with ECO, SPORT and SPORT+ available to tweak the experience to your taste. Plus, it also uses an innovation that hasn't been seen on Japanese cars for a while: Active rear steering. The steerable rear wheels make for tighter turns and better stability in lane-changes.

The 3.5 liter V6 features both port and direct injection, and a class-leading 312 horsepower. Quoted acceleration figures are 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, less than half-a-second off the outgoing model equipped with the bigger 4.6 liter V8. And Lexus promises it sounds good, too, but only a test-drive will tell us if this is true. *hint, hint*

Also launched was the GS 350 F Sport, which has better brakes, an adaptive suspension with stiffer anti-roll bars, and a retuned steering and dynamic control system. Whether this GS will finally be as exciting to drive as the Germanic benchmark, though, remains to be seen. *hint hint again*

That said, the all-new 2012 Lexus GS 350 certainly undercuts the Germans in price. The GS 350 F Sport, more hardcore and focused than the old GS 460, costs P4.818 million, while the "standard" GS 350 is downright cheap at P4.238 million or about a million less than the equivalent BMW. Okay, maybe 'cheap' is not a word you'd use to describe something costing twice as much as a Camry, but with Lexus, you definitely get what you pay for.

I'm disappointed that Lexus Manila resorted to cost-cutting by going cheap on the audio unit. Mark Levinson is not available anymore on this GS (which surprisingly is available on the previous gen GS460). Talk about stepping back (instead of moving forward): 14 speakers mark levinson (3GS GS460) -> 12 speakers premium audio (4GS GS350 and upcoming GS450h)

Also, those F-sport wheels look disgusting indeed.

Absolutely nothing sporty about it (with a really disgusting tuning fork design). I really really hope we can replace these abominations with the 19 inchers shown below:

Thankfully, the rest of the car is great................but that means that, if I were a GS buyer, I would never buy a GS350 F-sport as it is (based on the feature-spec and configuration that Lexus Manila just brings).

It's either 100% custom order for me or bust.

Anyways, I got a glimpse of this car three weeks ago in the underground basement (two F-sport black and brown and one regular with that grey color). Now that it's fully launched, I hope I can get to see it up and close soon...............................and hopefully get a test drive out of it as well.
