Default Move from 3GS to 2007+ LS460 ?

The price gap seem to have narrowed. You could get an LS460 for around the same price as a 3GS. I have a perfect 2007 GS350 with 88K miles it with all major stuff (water pump, struts, exhaust) done. I am thinking about going into a 2008 LS460 with similar mileage with up to date service history. I'd need to pay a few $1000 to get it. Anyone thinking about making the same move?

I'm also considering an LS or possibly 4th gen GS after paying off my GS460, I have read a lot about the first few years of the LS460 having issues with the control arms going bad and apparently it's a 3-5000$ fix at the dealer. Other than that pretty bulletproof though so I'd check to see if that was done. Although for about the same price as an 09-11 LS I could get a 13-14 GS350 with much more modern interior/nav screen. Need to drive the LS to see how I like it.

I'm scared to drive an LS. Everyone who has never comes back. Until I know I can afford a newer one I'm not test driving any lol.

I considered an LS460 when I was looking to get out of my 2007 GS350 last year. To me, the LS was boring...so I ended up getting a 2012 IS-F

Im eyeing 2013-up LS460's, the LS's are just better built and more solid. Not that the GS isnt solid! But the LS's easily reach 300K miles minus the front suspension bushings issue

Yeah that's exactly what happened to mmade a few months back – he drove a client's LS, and a few weeks later he sold his GS and bought an LS

Unfortunately, Lexus models up to 2012 might be the last year I consider buying. I just don't get the front grills they slapped on all of their model lines!! It just seems to get even worse with the latest models. The new LX570 is hideous! Even my wife noticed the front on a couple Lexus models in a commercial and said "What is up with the front?"

I don't want to buy something where the looks will eventually grow on me. I think some Lexus owners may walk away and go for the new Genesis models which is exactly the style path I think Lexus should have followed. Dammit Lexus!!!

Agreed 100%! What were they thinking. I'm going to keep my classic 2007 Lexus for another 10 years! LOL

I disagree! I love the front end styling of the grilles, it gives the lexus a little bit of an edge.

The new ls is much nicer. I disagree I feel like the previous model was pretty average looking inside and out. The new ls stands out from the other cars in the line up in my opinion.

Really? I hope this phase ends soon. If they wake up in 2018 and dramatically change, then I'd have to then wait 2 to 3 more years to get a used on around year 2022 to get a Lexus again!! So until then I'll be looking at Cadillac CTS or CT6 Infiniti M56 (whatever they call it now), Genesis G80 or G90 5.0 V8 or maybe a fully loaded Tundra.

I agree CTS wins on the looks vs the GS. But the LX is a league of its own, very classy, elegant, good looks you should see the funky led lighting on it. I love it!

Isn't the LS MUCH larger than the GS? What about handling sacrifices, etc?

I kind of like the way my GS still can scoot along. I assume the LS is quite fast, but lacks agility? I sold my LS430 for that very reason.

From owning IS GS LS each is very close to one another. Each step you increase the width of the vehicle, GS to LS is about and inch wider inside, the LS is like a lazyboy. The GS a bit more sporty. GS350 and the LS460 are about the same speed and acceleration. Handling in the GS is not sports car like and neither is the LS, I would say both are tied in handling

LS460 is a bit more reliable, more comfortable, more luxurious, more options, and more money
