I have a 2007 GS 350 that is in need of rear brake pads and rotors replacement. Besides OEM what other brands do you guys recommend.
Thanks in advance for the help.

There are many write-ups about Rotors and Pads for these cars ..
Firstly aftermarket rotors and pads are a decent choice, HOWEVER, stopping power is a subject of debate. This is what I know,, There are issues with aftermarket pads and rotors unless a caliper upgrade is performed. There has been reports of poor stopping performance and in some cases there has been accidents in wet weather. That said, OEM rotors and pads are the best and safest choice, but you will need to deal with excessive brake dust (yes even with the "upgraded" pads as is currently in use on my car).
The cost od OEM Pads may be less than aftermarket, however, the stopping performance does not compare, you just can't get better performance than OEM at least in our vehicles.

Off topic, but for anyone with akebono pads, do you find that they start to smell hot sooner than they should? Its not my car since I've noticed this on other cars I've had with akebono pads, but they seem to start to smell sooner that any other kind of brake pads I've ever had after hard stops or driving the backroads. Brakes well, but just something I've noticed.

Nope, I don't notice any smell coming from my Akebono pads.

Gonna go against the grain and recommend Duralast Max pads. Lifetime warranty including wear and tear so i'll never have to buy pads again. Brake performance is also pretty good, imo. as good as the OEM pads i had before. I had their cmax pads in my old TL that were okay, but lacked bite (i'm guessing due to the ceramic material).
The pads for the GS350 are semi metallic instead and provide the stopping feel i prefer. They do dust though, but it's manageable.
