Default Brake Pads of Choice?

Want to change my pads which were recently put on I would say about 15,000 miles ago. They are the Akebono Carbon Ceramics. Which in my opinion suck. Brakes feel like a soggy wet sponge. The only plus side is that they don’t dust up the wheels. Car has total of 68,000.

BTW, put on Wagner Quick Stop on the other wipe, LOVE THEM!

I want to know what are you guys changing your pads and rotors out for? Don’t say OEM.
Also probably need to change out the rotors at least on the fronts. What is the thickness spec on the rotors? What are you getting out of your brake pads and brake rotors lifetime? I probably have atleast 70% or more life left in these pads but I just can’t stand them anymore. They are also squealing in reverse when I back up. So freaking embarrassing!!!1

Thanks

I would recommend the "Alternative Front Brake Pads".. Toyota P/N: 04465-30400..
This is why: First, the Toyota pads are relatively inexpensive and they are far better than aftermarket. The alternative pads/rotors provide a solution to the issue of excessive brake dust.
These pads grip like no other and from what I have read the aftermarket pads really are not much of an alternative to OEM (although your message states no OEM).
I would highly recommend these alternative pads, I believe the kit comes with matching rotors as well, you won't be disappointed.

Sorry will say OEM. Just did front OEM Rotors with Akebono ProAct Pads for Front/Back. Pad a bit more $300 parts (OEM rotors $200/Pads $100) alone installed myself. The OEM rotors seem to last better. OEM lasted 10 years/110k miles for me...2006 GS300 AWD Northeast weather

Heard Centric rotors were good. Lot of people rave about them. Read mixed reviews about them. Some were good, some were not.

Your choice. I would use OEM rotors with aftermarket pads. Posi-quiet pads a supposedly good too. I like the Akebono for the price and no dust.

The min thickness is printed on the inner side of the rotor... It is 26mm for my es and should be around that number for your GS
