Default GS 350 excessive oil consumption

I have a 2007 GS350 with 121K Miles. It uses more than a quart of oil per 1000 miles. The car runs great, looks fantastic, and I would like to keep it another 200K miles. I ran an oil sample and the engine is making excessive aluminum and iron , which indicate piston/Bearing and steel wear.

Dealer says piston rings are about 5k, and it could also need a new block. Both would be around 10K. I am not willing to spend that much money. I can't in good conscience sell the car to any one but CarMax which is where I bought it. They will give me 8K for it.

I am the third owner, and the car is not under any kind of warranty.

I bought the car with the intention of getting 300,000 plus miles out of it like my Avalon., Camry, and two Toyota trucks. It doesn't seem like any Lexus has that kind of durability.

I want to trade it in for a another used Lexus. Which one has the most durabilty and longeveity?

I decided to keep it. I test drove a few GS430's and they have nothing on my 350 . I figured I am better off with the devil I know. I am just going to keep an eye on the oil until it doesn't pass smog than get a new engine.

If your running synthetic oil I would switch to standard oil. Also you can thicken the viscosity a bit that should slow the oil leaks.

I am now using penzoil for high mileage cars. Around $19 bucks for 5 quarts.

There are no external leaks. I am assuming all the oil is getting burned. I am going to try the sea foam treatment people discussed on this forum and hope this helps keep the engine clean before my next smog check

they take 6 1/2 quarts. Better to go with 6 than 7.

At how many mileage when you start using HM pennzoil? And are you using 5w30 or 10w30? Mine 08 gs350 with 124mi I started using pennzoil platinum HM 5w30 and sometimes 10w30 but I’m thinking to switch back to regular platinum since I heard the HM will swell gasket and seals !!!!

I don't 100% remember when I started using the High Milage Oil. I am thinking around 80K. Is your car burning a lot of Oil?. I honestly don't think it slowed the oil burn.
I ended getting a used motor and am still driving the car 6 years later.

I honestly burn maybe 1qrt or less till the next oil change on 3k to 4k which is great

You can try different things, but I don't believe anything will help. I was told eventually the catalytic converter will fail. Mine never did.

Good luck
