Default Advice for new 18" rims for GS460

First off with record low temps the last couple of winters potholes have been terrible and mostly unavoidable, which have warped 2 of the rims that are making the tires roar.

Given we have new pro contact tires, we want to stick to OEM size. We would like to keep the OEM set and get them repaired (which will cost almost $400 apiece since they are chrome), we just don't have extra rims to replace them while they are being fixed.

Plus we thought it would be a good idea to have 2 sets, one set with winter tires and the other set for summer tires.

My question is does anyone have the specs for the OEM 18" rims for the GS460? My brake calipers are OEM but my worry is the fitment/clearance since they are bigger for the 460 I believe.

has anyone bought rims from this site? http://www.oewheelsllc.com/

we are thinking about a set of these since they are very similar aesthetically. Of course we will replace the center caps with Lexus caps. My only concern is the GS460 offset is 45 and these are 35

any input would be greatly appreciated!

HI Mark,
I think the OEM is 18x8 +45. I don't think you will have a problem with +35 as lexus OEM wheel fitment is very conservative. FWIW, I wouldn't trust those OEM replica wheels on the link you provided, as they look to be fancy knock-offs usually with bad quality. As for brakes, your 460 should come with similar brakes on the 07+ models. I would buy a set from the classifieds, I think someone was selling a set of those 460 wheels not too long ago.

Thanks for the input!

Site guarantees wheels are TUV, JWL, VIA, SAE or DOT approved?? I will proceed with caution though

I could not really find anything solid about the placement on what works and what doesnt. Whatever I order will just be for the winter tires, and for when the originals are sent off for repair.

I have just ordered the OEM shocks from my Lexus parts also. Current ones are at end of life, at 90k miles.

Alright, as long as you accept the risk. Good luck on the shocks, make sure whatever shop does them seat the bushings correctly or your car won't sit correctly after the swap.

The wheel you posted is for an LS460 not a GS460. Different bolt patterns!

Usually wheel rim repair shops can fix your wheel while you wait.

Also the GS rears have been having alignment issues, this maybe the cause of your tires wearing funny. Have you taken the vehicle to check the alignment?

I think that's a typo since there is a review from a person with them on a GS 350, plus the fitment states lots of vehicles from the 90's.

I also just noticed these are replica wheels, I would def. stay away from these as replica wheels are usually very brittle and crack when you bend them. Ive seen many replica GS wheels break off in chunks.

Look on ebay for a used set of oem wheels or in the classifieds.

Thanks for the input everyone!

I am still shopping around.

Also going to go ahead and replace the springs with either Tanabe nf20's or Teins.

I would like to wait at the shop as they fix the warped rim, however 3 different wheel repair shops have told me they will need to ship the rim off to have it re-chromed after the repair process, making the return a few weeks out.

For 2 rims that would make the total between $550 to $700 when it's all said and done.

That's the kicker. Everyone we have talked to stated the rim is warped and a good chance it will need to be re-chromed after the repair process.

I don't know if that is normal practice for bent/warped rims at these repair shops or if that is a business booster deal for Chrome repair places.

Any recos would be appreciated. Here in north Alabama my choices are limited, so shipping them off is no issue.

Ive had 2 different sets of chrome wheels repaired, 1 set 20" aftermarket, and other one was 17" oem chrome. Ive never had to have mine rechromed and no issues with the chrome flaking. Each rim usually takes 20-40min to repair and cost 50-100 bucks per wheel.

Most of the time when theres damage to a wheel its usually on the inner portion, unless if you have a noticable dent in the face of the wheel.

Try going to a rim shop and ask them to recommend you a shop. Or google it!
