Default question about transmission fluid change, please help

i totally understand drain/refill process, but a little puzzle about top off process,

2006 GS300 AWDs

1. where do i get that jumper cable?
2. do i open that over flow plug when car is on and idling? or just turn the car off when it reaches to a specific temp.
3. is it necessary to do that process, if 3 quarts comes out and if i put back in the same, why we need to do that top off process?

please help

1. Paper clip
2.When within temp range leave car running/idling and remove overflow plug
3.If theres no leaks should be fine but always good to double check level if you dont know the history, previously could of been serviced wrong.

Just changed transmission fluid, mine 3.8 quarts came out and i put back in 3.8 quarts. I couldnt get overflow plug off, how do it get it off. Inside of that plug looks like roundish.

If I am correct, you need a hex key socket.

He used an allen key wrench for it apparently (similar to hex key socket).

you need what the distinguished feller above said. you may have rounded out that hole. if so, you will have to get a grinder wheel and wear a notch in that badboy and back it off with a flathead
