Default Is an aftermarket windshield okay on my 07?

I have an installed price from one of the big chains for under $300 with rain sensor. That seems too good to be true. I think these cars have some kind of a heating element for the wipers at rest position which matters in Canadian winters. Does that require special glass? thanks for any responses

As far as the rain sensor, just do not use glass from China. Non OEM American glass has worked fine for me. Don't know about the heater since I am in Houston.

Ask the dealer if it has a heater for the wiper blades.

Other than that Non OEM glass is fine....Pilkington is what my dealer recommended...the make OEM glass for Lexus. OEM glass is around $1,500 and insurance wouldn't pay 100% on OEM cost...so I went with Pilkington and no problems...

Make sure they use OEM seals and clips for the molding, not their typical aftermarket crap.

+1 on the OEM seal and clips...

Request it from whomever is replacing your windshield...if they can't get that brand then call your dealer and see what they recommend...

When I got aftermarket glass on my IS, it chipped multiple times within months.... I'd do your homework on that specific auto glass company.

I replaced my windshield on 08 GS 350 with OEM glass and seals/clips. Cost $1500, and was covered 100% by Allstate with no issues. Three months later the seal on right side (from being in drivers seat) failed and experienced wind noise. Returned to Lexus dealer, received Lexus loaner and two working days later fixed perfectly. Even if I had to pay for portion of the glass I would have. We all have read about too much on rattles etc. on dash/front glass to experiment. Now, you need to know, that Safelite auto glass installed the glass with the assistance of a Lexus Master tech.

When did you have your windshield replaced? Most insurance companies will not pay full price ffor OEM glass after 6-7 years.

It turns out they use Chinese XYG but I bought it anyways. I work in an industrial area where I get a couple of big stone hits every year so I am looking at maybe two years to replace. Will use American product next time if I don't like the results, I also paid an extra $50 for a protection film that has an additional anti-glare tint and pitting protection. Thanks for the responses

replaced windshield in March 2015; Insurance company is Allstate. No issues, but I do have a strong personality and made it very clear that their has been noise issues with the dash and windshield on this car and it would be better to have the dealer involved. Of course, you never know who is going to do the best job, I just wanted the dealer on the hook if something is wrong. I live in California and per my agent they will try to go through their preferred vendor but my agent coached me on how to get this done.

Last year my body shop accidentally cracked my windshield and they replaced it for me with an aftermarket one... He said that it was as good as factory. But after a year, I noticed that it's a magnet on rock chips.

You should have made then replace with OEM...that's different...cause it was caused by someone else...I would have demanded OEM glass...

I have a company coming to replace my windshield today as well on my '07 350 and was curious what to look for or tell them before install as far as these clips or seals. Their website clearly states they replace with factory windshields and they know I have a rain-sensing windshield. I took pictures this morning of how everything looked. Like I said though, is their anything in particular I need to specify with them when they come out before the repair begins?

Edit: they just finished repairing the windshield with a factory one. There's a lifetime warranty on everything from leaks to wind noise. I'm satisfied with the work so far.
