Default GS300 AWD new brakes squeek

I just bought some new front brakes at the local O'Reilly Auto Parts and the stainless steel seat that the brake pad sits in rubs against the rotor. At least I believe it is the seat rubbing because nothing else is there. Has anyone had this problem or have any tips for me?

I'm looking at buying my wife a used 350 and whenever I check the vin#s for service records on every one of them when a customer has complained about brake squeal the tech states it has to do with using aftermarket brakes and shim kits. Now I don't know if that is truth or the dealer just finding an excuse to do warranty work and run up the bill.

FWIW, our OEM pad, installed by Lexus under warranty, also has a slight squeal. Doesn't bother me enough to take it back, not sure if it's because they didn't use enough anti-squeal.

it is a pain in the a$$ to grease the shims every oil change but it does stop the squeal

I have never had this problem at all, and I did my brakes myself twice in 100k miles on the GS300. The one time i had any issue was from the actual pad not being seated properly, which you can prevent by putting a few lug nuts on to prop the rotor in position properly. If you make sure the sliding pins and shims are well greased you should be good. All I can think off is sometimes there is a buildup of crap where the pads are actually seated and people either don't clean that out and grease there a bit or change that $15 hardware out during each brake job.

i had mine done twice by the dealer… took it back a 3rd time for brake squeal. they told me it was normal. i told them its not normal and left. when i got home i opened the brakes and took out the pads. of course no brake squeal grease anywhere. i greased the shims, pads and pin… no squeal for 1 year!
it was loud at the time and would squeal just by tapping the brakes.
