Mirror replacement with e-bay mirror
My mirror was in terrible shape looking like something from horror movies. I did some research and decided to purchase ES series mirrors and replace mine.
I got 2007 ES350 mirror from ebay for $30.00. Wiring was different and did not have home link button. Instead, I took out the mirror itself, spliced the wires and put the ES class mirror into my casing. Same size mirror and Vola! Everything works. For $30bucks, not bad to have a almost new mirror and it actually works. Just an FYI for someone having mirror problem.

Mirror
I do not know if 2006 will work or not. I was based on the mirror size I got from the seller.
As to the compass, yes, it has compass and works. As to auto dimming, yes, that's what the splicing wire is required.
For the mirror, there are only two wires that need to be spliced due to the connector difference. GS and ES seems to have different connector. I had to cut off my connector to fit to the new mirror.
As to opening the case, it is held by locking plastic clips four bottom and four top. Need stiff putty knife or flat blade plastic to press the go between front and back housing and you will feel and hear clips disengage. DO NOT twist your blade as it will marr or dent the plastic.
That's it.
Here are some pictures of the case and my dingy mirror. It is very straight forward as wires are black and red wires needing to be connected. Be very careful if you attempt to do this as the wire connected to the mirror itself is delicate.

after waiting a long time, I'm finally getting ready to do this fix.
But looking at the 2007 ES350 mirror, it appears the top edge is rounder than ours. No matter what angle I look at my mirror, the top edge is never that round. It looks straighter.
Has anyone else done this fix with an es350 mirror?
Look at the ES mirror....
and our mirror...
