Default Red Optima Battery fitment issue..

So I just bought a red optima battery today..tried to install it and ran into a small problem. I used the plastic piece it comes with to raise the battery high enough but now the tie down won't close properly. The battery is now too high and is impossible to secure. For all you 3GS owners running a redtop, how did you solve this problem?

Im curious as to how is this solved as well, my next battery is an Optima when my oem dies out. I've seen the 2IS owners run a red top.

hehe ok so after some fiddling around I actually got it in. I think what had happened was the piece to secure the tie down (opposite of the side you screw the nut in) somehow came loose and a little out of place when I was putting the battery in. when I was playing around, the piece actually became unhooked (it was a pain to put back into place imo) I also had another issue with the negative terminal. had to use a flat head screwdriver to pry open the terminal a bit, along with a forceful yank to really get it over and connect to the battery. I was a hesitant to use force at first, but it all worked out in the end

Thnx man, thought it was the battery's fault, lol... now I can buy with confidence. No worries on your part, i've had a similar situation fitting a battery in my old tundra where the hook didn't quite fit in the hole and dislodged itself when I was running 80mph. Lol. At any rate, good thing you fixed it. Good luck!
