This has been bothering me for some time, now i cant take it.
My Boot button is worn/broken, probably from prev owner who left the glovebox boot lock on.
But its getting worse and worse.
What is this called? Boot release cap?
Boot release button? SHould i give lexus a call and see what part it is, suggestions would help, see the photo

Its really anooying as its the only thing falling off after nearly 7 years not bad

Lexus have told me you cannot buy the rubber part on its own, have to buy the whole switch.
The whole switch and cover is $51 order from japan.

I was just in service and they replaced it under extended warranty, you can but it http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accesso...2007/5692.html make sure to make an account and include clublexus name for even better discount. Also make sure to search for a DIY on the forum for this.

I could have sworn I saw there was a TSIB on a melting boot button. Look it up, you may be able to get it replaced.

Yeah I saw it somewhere along the line too, not all of them do it but I guess it's enough.

I tell you I am not so happy with this compared to my 2GS...

this is very common on the RX

you cannot buy the rubber piece by its own, you will have to get the whole switch assembly.

Same part for the IS GS LS and even Scions I believe. They all melt when you live in a hot climate, you can get them off of ebay for about $45-55 dollars you do have to tear into the trunk to replace it. I just ripped mine off and never bothered to replace.

I believe this is the part number that you need 84840-21010

If your local Lexus dealer doesnt have it, go to your Toyota dealer and just give them the part number and see if its cheaper.
