Default Rub marks on seat from belt loop - GS460

Sorry if this has been covered in here time and time again, but I wasnt able to really get any answers with the search option.

Anyways, I've put MAYBE 250 miles on my '08 GS460, and Ive noticed what appear to be wear marks from my jeans (just regular Diesel jeans). I didnt have this issue in my SC400, my girlfriend's Cayenne, or any of the other cars I drive on a regular basis. Is this common for these cars? Could the leather just be low quality? Here's a pic:

Did you buy the car used? Have you kept up with the leather via conditioner and stuff?

I believe there's fixes for these, try the g00gle, something might turn up.

I have an 07 350 and don't have that issue and I regularly wear Diesel jeans. Do you wear jeans with the back pocket buttons?

Nah, no jeans with buttons. Let some Lexol conditioner soak I yo it, and that seemed to help a bit, but still noticeable. Did a little more reading, and people have been complanning about Lexus using soft, cheap leather :/ Apparently my girlfriend's '08 IS250 had similar issues from her jeans.

Heh.... You'll be surprised to hear that the HIGHER quality leathers are the SOFTER leathers....

Look at your $20k chanel bags and burberry bags (pardon my sp if I got it wrong).

If you even so much as look at'em the wrong way while wearing them you mess'em up LOL....

Not saying I don't disagree with you about the complaints, I have my complaints too.... Just I don't think it's a matter of being cheap.

If it bothers you a bit, you should do a good bit of reading on leather maintanence, there's not too much to it, but it might help aide in prolonging the life of your leather.

GL!

On the upside, it looks repairable. I imagine a quick sand and dye, and you should be all set.

when you scuff any clear coat, that's what it will look like.

is the clear coat completely gone? If not, you might be able to use something to polish it back to a shine.

Or if the dye is intact, you can apply a clear coat.

There's a really cheap liquid called Fiebing acrylic resolene you can get cheap on ebay. It's used as a clear coat to restore leather goods. You can feather and blend it on with a brush. You can control the shine depending on how much you apply. I've used it before.

I agree, some dye and clear would be good if you have scratches that remove the color as in your case.

On a side note, I saw a dealership reconditioning a new car's leather recently. Scary to think that a dealership would hire a guy to come out and make repairs or recondition a new car. I didn't see what it looked like prior, but afterward it looked semi-normal. If I didn't know it, I wouldn't be able to tell, but since I did, I was able to focus on the difference in the glossiness of the leather.

the good thing about acrylic resolene is it's water soluble. it's really hard to mess up.
practice on the inside of a belt, and you're good to go.
