Default 2006 Lexus GS 300 airbags

Dears,

I had a minor accident on the left hand side on my 2006 Lexus GS300. 2 airbags went off the left curtain and the driver seat airbag.

How can I turn off the airbag light at the dash board, what do I need to replace on top of the curtain airbag and the seat?

Thank you in advance.

You don't replace anything, once it goes off, it can not be fixed from what I remembered. Unless times have changed and you can now reset the Airbag system (which I very highly doubt)

Thank you for your reply.

Does that mean, if this vehicle airbag blows off, the whole system need to be scraped?

I thought I need to change the airbags only and the system is going to be live.

No sir, all cars are like this, not only the GS

I have a friend who had a BMW whose airbag light went off and after it went off it never went away, same thing with my cousin's Toyota camry. The bags were replaced but the light never went away

What so you take it to Toyota and have the car repaired after an accident and forevermore a car has airbag warnings on the dash? That doesn't sound right??

Don't know about Lexus but on an Acura TSX I am fixing I have to also replace the driver seat and curtain air bag. Apparently when any airbags go off, the whole SRS computer has to be replaced as well as any seatbelt that was being used due to the retractor detonating. $2000 later, I have two airbags, two impact sensors, a computer, and a seatbelt retractor sitting in my garage waiting to be installed. Oh, and an empty wallet.

No sir, the BMW didn't even go through an accident, it just went off one day. BMW refused to honor their warranty on the car (it was a 745), and the Toyota was repaired in a shop, the airbags deployed and all parts were replaced (except for the airbag module I believe), the light's still on till this day.

Easy repair! Once you find all the parts everything is plug and play. Most of the time you will not need to take it to the dealer. Many of the parts can be found on ebay or car-part.com

Parts you will need

used left curtain airbag
used driver seat with airbag
send off your airbag control module to have it reset.

If the odd chance SRS light is still on then take it to any mechanic with a proper airbag scan tool and he can tell you what other parts are needed.

Aren't they covered by the insurance company?

Thank you Ibidu1 for the information.

Do I need to change the 2 impact sensors as well or no need to change them?

Thank you in advance

yes you do, if they were hit, that means they were damaged in the impact.

Ive replaced several airbags and never had to replace impact sensors, just the bags and reset the computer. Once you plug in the reformatted module, and if there is any SRS light, it will tell the mechanic if there is any damages

Ive used a guy off of ebay I think it was around $45-$60 he can reset modules.
