Question Is this a known problem!?!

Hey guys I wanted to ask everyone a couple questions. My 07 gs350 only has 67,000 miles on it, and I've only had it for 2 weeks. I've noticed a rattle in my dash, seems to be up where the front windshield meets it. It only seems to happen when I hit bumps, which is quite frequent. The roads here in Michigan are absolutely terrible. Also I have run flat tires on it, which I heard makes for an extra bumpy ride...is this a known problem? If so what's it gonna run me to fix it? Or is it just these run flat tires that I need to change maybe? Thanks in advance everyone!

Welcome sir. Grab a glass, pour yourself some Pinot Noir, turn on some classical music and spend some quality time with the search function on this wonderful site.

Yes, this is a known, common issue.

Known problem, especially when cold out.
Any dash rattles (known nuisance)?
Search and you will find what other members have done. Good luck!

very common problem. lexus offers to fix it. i had mine done years ago and it worked for me but others have claimed the rattle still came back. a quick cheap fix is to shove some felt (black or whatever color your dash is) between where the dash meets the windshield. it will be hidden pretty much but thats what some members have done to fix the rattle.

yup mine rattles like a $%*@! now that temperature is back below -20C. I need to get to a craft store and get some felt, but I discovered that all the nearby craft stores have closed down.... i guess people aren't as crafty as they used to be.

Thanks guys I'll check out the search engine as well. I talked to my dealer today and they said they'll put some insulation in there if I like but suggested not to take the dash off, might create more or different issues...

Yes, my Lexus rattles and squeak like crazy as well. It is worst when the temperature either too hot or too cold but usually lessen after 10-15 minutes of driving (with AC or heater ON). I guess everything equal out with the more consistent interior temperature.

Even my friend BMW squeaks but i know what youre sayin. This generation GS is one of the worst offenders. Try the felt method it works pretty good.

Jjman79,

Your exactly correct. Lexus (the pursuit of perfection) owners shouldn't have to put up with rattles in the dashboard.

That being said I challenged Lexus corporate on this subject since the local Louisville dealership conversation was a complete waste of my time.

They compromised......I pay $393 (25%) and Lexus picks up the rest of tab.

Think I'll try the felt method first......like previously mentioned concerned about even more rattles because this surgery involves taking out the dashboard.

Damn your portion is 25% is a 393!?! That's some crap. I wouldn't even pay that for the dash to be removed! So what do you guys do just literally shove a piece of felt in between the windshield and dash where they meet?
