Default Headlight Chrome

I want to refinish the headlights on my 2007 GS with a 3M kit. Seems like it would be safer and easier if I could remove the chrome trim around the lens. Can this be done?

Yes you would have to remove the front bumper to get to the screws that hold the chrome trims to the headlight

Just tape it with a couple layers of good quality auto body tape.

i advise to remove the bumper, headlights, and then chrome trim. with the edges of the sandpaper rotating on a drill it cuts through the tape very easily.

I thought he was just talking about using one of those puffy *****. I finished all my lights recently and I only had to use sandpaper on a couple trouble areas. I just wet sanded carefully by hand.

I wouldn't recommend you sand your headlights without adding a 2k clearcoat on top.

These 3m headlight polishing kits will only destroy the headlights after a few months. If you sand your headlights you sand off the clear coat.

Try using a mild polishing compound and putting after a long lasting sealer.

If the head lights are completely foggy then take them to a body shop have them sand and clear coat them for you. Theyll look like brand new if done correctly and will last a long time.
