Q's about buying a 3rd gen GS
Hello all, I currently own a 2nd gen GS300, and although nothing is wrong with it, I do eventually want to upgrade, I have loved the look of the 3rd gen for quite some time, and would love to own one, but when Ive looked at reviews, many people complain about issues with this car, rattling noises and tire pressure sensors among other things.. My 2nd gen is about to hit 200k and I've never had any problems since I've owned the car, no exxagerations, I would probably have to buy a 3rd gen with around 100-120k and my question is can I expect the same reliability? Also are any of the years or dif engines more reliable than the others? I know I'm posting on the forum for 3rd gens lol so I expect biased answers, but really want an honest opinion, otherwise will probably be a 2nd gen gs430 or possibly g35/acura tl

those all seem like small things to me and things i have not experienced. I would focus on the major stuff. I ave 100k on my car now and the only issues have been dash creaks, leaking water pump which I replaced (easy) and engine rattle at startup which is now a recall (VVTi actuator gear recall). I suggest making sure whatever vehicle you purchase you know the detailed service history. In my opinion I would stick to the 07 350 and up. The 06s seem to have more issues.

I have had the symptoms of the strange smell from the ac and the breaks wearing out quickly with the excessive brake dust but the dealership fixed all of those issues for free under TSB.. If they honor it (which they should) you should be golden.. Good luck!

Are the 350s (that's what is likely get) hard to work on at all? Also what engine is in the 06 300s because I know it's not the 2jz.. Was that engine in anything else? Is it no good?

Not a bad engine, was not strong enough to keep up with the competition in the US. It was pulled, but was still used in other parts of the world. Nothing else in the US, however.
