Does condensation in headlamp cover under CPO Warranty?
#17
Tsiripong - great post - just today i took my 2008 GS460 in for the same issue and asked them to verify that it would be covered under the Lexus CPO warranty - after they called the warranty desk at Lexus the answer is NO, I spoke with the dude on the phone and he gave me the same exact line that its not mechanical. FYI - seal failure of any kind is mechanical but they dont agree and think mechanical means it has to have moving parts. Anyway, i intend to push it up the line and try and talk some sense into these folks so i got the needed phone numbers. I assume it is a game of persistence and they want you to give up. Any tips on how you got them to do a "goodwill" swap?

As far as a goodwill repair, You just have to call Lexus Customer Care and request for a goodwill consideration. They will give you a case number and advise you to take it to your local dealer to get your car check out. I don't really have any tip on this... What I think work best for me was that you have to be polite but firm. They will look into your service record and also how far out of warranty are you. Hope this helps.
P.S. They are pretty quick about decision making. I got a call back within 2 business days.

Headlights are not completely sealed so that heat can escape, if small amount of moisture from inside headlamps temporarily and disappears is considered normal.
Moisture could also be getting in from a loose rubber boot behind the headlight from improper installation of light bulbs.
Cpo doesn't cover cosmetic issues or what is considered as wear and tear. You should have a cpo warranty booklet in the glove box which would show a list of excluded parts.
