fuel pump’s electrical harness GS 300 2006
Hello- Thanks for all the imput everyone has written here. I have been reading for a while trying to find information about the fuel pump’s electrical harness, how to replace it.
Question:1
I read a recall about the electric harness causes it to break however Mine seem to have burnt up. -- THIS is SCARY considering it sits in the Gas tank and my children sit on the back seat.
Am I to replace this fuel assembly lid now and electrical harness and is this to fix the recall?
I am DYI and need direction, yet am nervous of the fix should it burn up again in the fuel tank.
Please see pictures below.
Question 2:
Are there any links on how to take the fuel assembly apart to replace fuel pump for a 2006 GS 300? I bought the fuel pump thinking it was the problem so I might as well replace it while I am replacing the electrical Harness.

I had the car on the lift today, the gas tank looked very straight forward, it was exposed and well in sight. You'll have to access it from outside the car I believe. Drive the car on E and then see if you can rent a lift for a half a day or be prepared to jack up the car really high (just my take on it of course).
You're saying the harness burned up INSIDE the gas tank? That doesn't sound good at all. I'd see if Lexus will repair this as it is most definitely a safety recall, potentially fatal while at it!
GL OP!

Actually, there's an access plate under the back seat on the drivers side. There's a silver 6" diameter cover with a wire in the center with a rubber grommet. Pry up the plate with a flat screw driver and the top of the fuel pump is right under it. Did you ever fix this?
