Default My car was in an accident and wondering if the engine should be looked at too.

Im in B.C. Canada and we deal with ICBC up here.

I was not the driver of the vehicle. How it went was the person driving my car was in the right slow lane going about 40 or so. And as he was driving, he saw on the left fast lane was a car going really slow. There was no traffic around. As my driver was passing him wondering why the person was driving so dangerously slow, the car veered into my lexus lane. Of course a collsion happened. Kid was an N driver and was apologizing left right and centre. The dad even called about 20 minutes later and spoke to me and said he wanted to not go through ICBC but pay out of pocket for the expenses as because his kid is a N driver, it will end up costing him about 10,000 dollars.

SO....
I go to the shop and he looks at it and he says minimum about 5,000 in damage. Im freaking out as the radiator is pushed in and against the pipes. Im taking it for a second opinion, (maybe a third as this is my baby) for the body, but also think the engine should be looked at as now the engine light is on and its running rough. Any help would be appreciated on what I should do next. My driver said they hit HARD and he does not know why the airbags did not deploy. Id like to know what could be damaged and could this be a write off. Its a lexus GS 430 leather with all the extras.

Do you have insurance or fixing this out of pocket?

It does have frame/unibody damage from the bent radiator support.

If you were paying out of pocket, I would suggest you buy the parts used, install it yourself or have a mechanic install it. Then take it to a body shop to do the paint work.

From what I can tell the parts that you need are

Radiator support
Radiator
Condenser
Fan blade assembly
Hood

All these parts if purchased used may total $1,000 Call some junkyard in your area. Also did your airbags deploy?
