Default Are wheel bearings covered under Powertrain Warranty?

Just wondering what peoples experiences have been with getting warranty repairs on wheel bearings. I have a 2007 GS350 AWD and I think one of my front bearings is starting to go. I hear a bit of howling so it will likely need to be replaced at some point.

Here is the exact language of the powertrain warranty:

Powertrain Warranty

The Powertrain Warranty is for 72 months or 70,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Except for the situations listed on the Basic Warranty page, this warranty covers repairs needed to fix defects in materials or workmanship of any component listed below: •Engine: Cylinder block and head and all internal parts, timing belt and cover, flywheel, oil pan, water pump, fuel pump, engine mounts, engine control computer, seals and gaskets
•Transmission and Transaxle: Case and all internal parts, torque converter, clutch cover, mounts, engine control computer, seals and gaskets
•Front-Wheel-Drive System: Driveshaft, axle, hub, bearings, seals and gaskets

Dealer should be able to tell you over the phone if wheel bearings are covered.

I was a technician for 4 years and then a service advisor for 2 years at a toyota dealer... yes... they would be covered under powertrain.

One way to tell if you have a bad bearing is when you drive on the highway, if you switch lanes from right to left the sound of the bearings will change. For instance is you have a bad left bearing turning right should increase the sound of that bearing.

yup, it will be a humming noise. if you turn left with a bad left wheel bearing, the noise so disappear as well.

The noise may not necessarily disappear when you turn. A bad bearing can make noise in a straight line as well. Tire noise changes dependent on road surface, a bad bearing will not.

After you drive the car for awhile, the wheel with the bad bearing should be considerably hotter to the touch than the other wheels.

Just confirmed the bearing is covered under powertrain. Had my left front replaced at no cost to me.

Have to bring this thread from the dead to add info.
yes, bearings would be covered under PT warranty... UNTIL they are not.
Got a bad hub bearing on a rear passenger side. The noise started several days ago (IS350 2015 f sport) and I brought it to the dealership.
KC dealership (Hendrick Lexus, Merriam) diagnosed it and confirmed that it will not be covered under powertrain warranty because "there was some damage" to the bearing. A wheel on that side was not damaged, though. Got a quote of 1000+ dollars for repairs. Now, ordering the part myself and will be replacing it myself, once it arrives. I am not paying $1k for a shot hub bearing.

Fix your bad wheel put it on the other side, and take the car to another lexus dealer. Its worth the shot lol

The damaged wheel was “already” on the other side, and apparently that did not help. My lexus adviser was insisting that the damage was due to something external (aka not a bearing defect). I see no reason for them to deny the coverage because they get paid by Lexus to perform a repair. I explained to her that I only have two options - they make a bit of money by fixing it under warranty = them getting paid by lexus, or not getting paid at all, if I were to fix it myself. She still was insisting that it was not covered.
I might try to go to another dealer, but at this stage, I already ordered the part...

The damaged wheel, is it bent or gouged up pretty bad? Next time they try to give the damaged wheel excuse tell them your wheel alignment is fine. So if a hard impact destroyed my wheel and for sure would have knocked the alignment off track.

If the 2nd dealer doesnt fix it, call lexus customers service, you paid for the warranty.
