Default Constructive Criticism - GS350 AWD independent exhaust piping

Hey everyone!

This is my first official post on CL and very excited and intrigued on everyone's opinion on what I just got done and much more to come now... I may have opened Pandora's box by doing this but I have performed my first upgrade by completely separating my exhaust system into two independent pipes.

The following upgrades were performed 3 inches after the secondary O2 sensors:
- 2.5 inch diameter T409 piping
- PA Inspection/Emissions and federal regulations required 2 Thunderbolt secondary catalytic converters to keep the OEM style of Emissions checking
- Deletion of the factory resonator
- Extended the 2.5 inch piping directly into two Borla Pro XS mufflers.

Pictures are below!

Constructive feedback is appreciated to see what else can be done to the beast that lies within...

Not sure if I remember this correctly or not, but don't you lose some torque that way? I remember thinking about doing the same on my Cadillac CTS. I was talked out of it. Then I wanted to add an x-pipe to my Corsa cat back exhaust. Got talked out of that too. What if you add an x-pipe to your system? Just curious.

Sorry man, not digging it. Around here where we get a ton of salt on our cars, those welds wouldn't last 2 years.
The pinch bends are constricting flow, as is the separation of the 2 pipes by not combining the the exhaust pulses.

Probably sounds real nice though! Enjoy it while it lasts!

Good luck.

I agree. Mandrel bends and an x pipe would make this a completely different setup. With those changes I would be very interested to hear how it sounded (IF an x could even be squeezed in there )

Default You need x-pipe

I agree with other that you need the xpipe like my shop has done for mine

You can see the rest of my setup here...

Thank you everyone for the feedback... so after A BUNCH of research and needing to understand the concept of:
  • Syncing of Exhaust pulses
  • X pipes
  • the EXTREME annoyance of 2.1k to 2.4k droning on cruise control from 70mph and 80mph
  • SISO, SIDO, and True-Dual Exhaust
  • MPG increase on True Dual Exhaust

I will be doing the following:
  • X-Pipe
  • Vibrant Performance 1793 Resonators (x2)

I will post before and after videos so you guys can get a feel of where I'm coming from. I'm very excited about the upcoming changes and getting more feedback from you guys! Thanks again!

That's what is great about car clubs and forums. We all get to share and learn from one another. Look forward to seeing how you finish this project.

Here are the pictures of the addition of an x-pipe and two resonators for each pipe...

I've gained my mid-end torque back... I think the car got a little more powerful but I'll take what I can get. The droning is pretty much eliminated with the resonator addition except for when I push it. I'll take the time this weekend to post some videos if it doesn't rain out... But for the time being... here are some pics!

FYI... I also got MUCH better gas millage - avg 19 to 21 to 23 to 25 - I've changed my driving habits too since to make sure I don't get any drone or minimize drone and push it when I have to drive like an ***...

Tell me what ya think? Thanks!
