Hmmm....Still happy with my 3GS
Without writing some long write-up I have to say even as I've driven tons of cars in the last couple years and my wife has a GS F-sport I cannot say I feel the 3GS feels nor looks "old". Sure there are a few new electronic features its missing (blind spot, a better rear camera, bluetooth etc) but overall I don't feel like its a giant step back.
To me the car has really aged gracefully and still looks rather relevant inside and out. The only way you would know its the old style Lexus interior is by seeing the new more Germanish new ones. The exterior is my eyes still looks rather fresh, I used to be upset about all the copy cars and cars that took cues but now it helped the GS stay relevant lol. Irony.
The ride is still pretty solid, sure it doesn't drive as well as the new GS but for most driving its still fine. It is amazing to me though to see how the VSC, then VDIM and now VDIM/Driver select has advanced. The 3GS VDIM is intrusive compared to the new GS.
Overall I have to say I'm happy with her. With the 2GS to me if felt pretty old fast when the 3GS came out. WIth the 4GS not so much.
Just my thoughts...its been a great car Some pics of the transformation as I reflect a little.

You're absolutely right.
I drove a 4GS in December when they had a really good lease deal going on. You could tell they did their homework on the 'handling', but it wasn't enough to get me out of my 3GS.
The audio in the 4GS sounded very cold compared to the 3GS (base systems).
All things considered, you hit the nail on the head my man.

I haven't had mine as long, but I really feel the same as far as the looks. Inspected a new GS and really wasn't blown away or drawn to 'trading up'. Still nothing on the rode that I'd rather drive for my commute.

She looks great Mike. I don't discriminate but I like her black. I must say I don't regret downgrading from an 2010 E350 to a 06 3GS after it was totaled. I love this car. Better gas mileage, bigger interior, real leather not that MB Tex that the Benz had. Over all a better car. I will roll this baby until the wheels fall off, put them back on and roll again.

The other day I parked in front of a restaurant and as I walked to the door, a patron coming out asked if my car was a '12 or '13. He was taken aback when I told him it's an '07. I've been smiling about it ever since.

The 3GS is just a great timeless design. Very simple, classy, and elegant. Even up against newer models, the car fits right in and looks brand new. Add the lowered ride height, wrap, shiny shoes (), and other odds and ends, and you've got a real head turner!

the design good enough when u go to walmart shopping won't have to worry people will pick on you like you driving a flashy Mercedes C class or BMW 3 series... not those rich spoil kid attention, and at the same time you can go meet up with important client or go to high end restaurant valet you get treated with respect for a mid class luxury car
my mom still felt i should've gotten the Mercedes E350 sedan, she wonder why i would get a 2007 GS450h and not the 2009 E350 sedan for the same price
