Default Do you slam the hood to close?

Hi, Just bought 2010 GS350 AWD CPO with 26k miles. I have to almost slam the hood to close it. Is this normal? The dealer says the hood is fine and this car was not involved in front-end collision. Thanks!

could be the latch is off slightly or the bump stops are set too high

I always have to slam not like mallet type slamming but with some good enough force.

from all the research I've done and how light the hood is, I guess this is the way this car is designed.
much different from BMW hood where you just drop it to close.

Not enough momentum to self close - needs a bit of a firm hand.

Pushing on the hood is an easy way to denting the hood. What I do, 6"-12" above the latch I drop it.

Also you can lube the latch and the hook with grease that will help locking it.

Huge difference, its the weight I think as my X5 I can just drop it and it will snap shut but my GS feels lighter when I close the hood which requires more force to shut.

Hood is light, and aluminum.... I have two dents caused by falling acorns parked on the street once to prove it. I never have to slam it but you have to do more than just drop it... kind of like closing a door.

Depends on where you push.
Over the latch is reinforced/sturdier, and no-one is suggesting it be leaned into, just a firm action.
I guess the lack of threads containing revelations of having damaged the bonnet by being forceful would seem to indicate most of us have managed to get the measure of it, without too much of a problem.

for me... close the hood softly, than to close the last latch i spread my hands evenly on the hood close to the edge and close to the latch and press fast hard down.
