Its $10-20 with my own oil, its too dirty of a job to do my self, i do replace rotors, brake pads and brake oil.

yep..my GS and wife's RX. Simple to do and although I could pay someone, this way is a guarantee it's done right.

I did last time because Costco had a special on Mobil1 oil.

last time i dropped my car @ Toyota dealer to change my prev 2GS oil, they FORGOT to put back the oil cap. I didn't find out until ~2000K miles later, nasty engine bay/hood!

been changing my own oil since then. GX & GS

exactly my point - I have heard horror stories from people taking their cars to the quick lube places and even dealerships. To me it's not worth the risk.

I do my own work. Too many issues with mechanic wannabe shops and professional poser techs. Only time I don't is if I don't have special tools that are expensive.

I do most of my work myself. This way i know its done right. I will say this is my 3rd Lexus and in the past anytime i had work done at the dealership it was always done well. I buy my Mobil1 oil at Costco so its almost 1/2 the price of the $80 my dealership charges. I will admit after my last visit to the deaership for an alignment they had fresh backed cookies there and i almost thought about coming back to have them do the oil change and eat more cookies

Some of you would be surprised to hear my horror stories.

Sometimes techs are too lazy to change the oil. They have your cars parked in, pretend to do it and give you the car half an hour later exactly how it came in. There was recently a undercover scam found at one of the bigger franchise
