I do mine myself. It takes me about 1/2 hour and I know it is done properly.

I use only synthetic oil, usually from Walmart. I buy three 5-quart jugs for about $21 a piece, which is more than enough to change oil on my GS and my wife's RX. Two cars oil changes with tire rotations take just about an hour.

I used to when I was younger... now with kids I don't bother especially since we hardly use the car. I get it changed with amsoil once a year so I don't care about paying them to get dirty for me so infrequently. I don't take it to Lexus I take it to an independent toyota/lexus shop. It's about $70 for full synthetic change which is pretty good for Toronto considering Lexus charges like $120 for dino.

I'll make my own cookies.

I change oil myself. Piece of cake to do, just messy sometimes....(when you step in the oil container)
Takes me about 25 minutes.

I do mine and my wife's RX. However, I buy Mobil1 at Walmart, and have access to a lift at the nearby Military installation ($3.00 charge), so to me the hard part doesn't exist. Also, Discount Tire rotates our tires for free.

DIY as well, and TBH I'd do it even if there were no cost saving (which there is!) - I'd just prefer to know how to do these things myself. And it's such an easy job too - raising the car correctly is the main work, oil change itself is a piece of ****.

I'd do more of my oil change if I have access to a lift. This GS is so low that driving up my ramp would scratch it's front. And craw in there too. Such a pain and it double the time.

Just bought my GS. Will DIY oil changes for sure. IMO it's good to see what's going on in the engine compartment once in a while.

Do you have to be ex military to access the lifts? (or is this just a personal connection?)

I just did mine for the 1st time. The oil had about 3,500 miles on it.I was surprised how clean the oil still was. The owner i bought the car from had the oil always done at the dealer. The oil filter was so tight that it almost didnt come off. The filter totally crushed as I tried to remove it. I switched the car to Mobil1 which i have always run in my cars. Easy job

I took mine to Lexus when I first got it(twice), then to Toyota a couple times. The I just started doing to myself, super easy and I trust myself more than that person turning wrenches trying to be fast to knock out cars.
