Default Limit of USB Drive Capacity

For those of you who have the USB option which allows you to attach a thumb drive or hard drive to the head unit of the car, what is the max capacity that it can read?
I have a 240GB Passport USB hard drive filled with ~10gig of music files but the car can not read this drive. However, I have a 2GB thumb drive and it reads fine. I'm planning on getting a bigger thumb drive but just wondering what's the biggest capacity I can go with. I can't find this information anywhere in the manual or online.
I use bluetooth audio to stream Pandora and iHeart Radio into the car and USB drive to listen to all my music.

NVM. It is in the manual. Still wonder why it wouldn't read my 240GB drive with 10GB of music files though.

Hello to all! This is my first post on this forum. New to Lexus world. I'm right now in search for GS450h, and in process of selling my M6.
Please advise where this USB socket is, and how to know that the car has it? Im looking for a car in internet, so best way to look for it by photos or asking dealer. Thx.

More than likely the harddrive isn't getting enough power, as stated above. Try using a flash drive and see if that works.

It may also depend on what format the hard drive is in. Most USB drives are pre-formated FAT32, while your 2.5 HD may be NTFS.

yes... fat32/fat16 only apparently, and i believe those two formats limit you to... 32GB ONLY, so either get 32GB flash drives or try to find a cheap 32GB external HDD (i'd reccomend SSD drives at this point). Also, being a computer tech, i'd totally reccomend against using your WD Passport, because the external HDD has very fragile moving parts inside, that drive will take a huge fat dump on you, losing all your data and the etc. If you're looking for a USB thumb drive (around 32gb) PM me as I find some nasty deals on them every once in a while (like $14-$16 for a well branded USB thumb drive)

Yes. I've realized using a 240GB HD is a waste since I only have music files on there. No video.
I've bought a 16GB USB drive and only using about 6GB of it.

I'm thinking about buying some 16 gb flash drives to use in my GS350. Does your car read the 16 gb flash drive fine?

I have been using 16GB in my 2016 Lexus GS350, it has been working fine. Before using this flash drive, you should
1) Format flash drive with HPdrive format
2) Check out after format, it should show 14-15GB
3) Transfer music and enjoy

Regards,

Davis
