Default Problems bleeding breaks

Ok so I took my GS in today to have the break fluid changed and 1 calliper on the rear changed. The garage called me and said the cant get my breaks to bleed so they think the abs pump is gone they said they can't get the calliper they replaced to bleed at all. Does any one know if there is a special way to bleed the breaks on a 3 GS as they can not get the system to pressure up

Help help please

Seems like they dont know how to bleed it. On the rears, with the key on, depress the pedal and hold it. No pump and hold for rears. Watch the reservior and refill when needed. Then do the fronts, pump and hold style and thats it.

Ok so they should do the rear first ?

They just hold the pedal down and wait for the fluid to come through for the rear and do the conventional pump and hold style for the front ?

Does it matter witch side they start ? Left or right

Do they need to bleed the pump if so do you know how ?

Thanks for the info I hope this is it cuz a new pump is like $2k over here

Thanks

James

One thing to note is that the 3GS' brakes aren't typically bled the conventional way. Bleeding it the conventional way may/will trigger a bunch of lights in your dash! One reason why rominl suggested disconnecting the battery.

The shop that is doing your work has no idea what they're doing and likely has never done a newer Lexus with electronic brakes. Before you pay up for a new ABS unit, have it bled properly with a Techstream unit if all other avenues fail.

Ok so they managed to bleed them and I have the car back but it had every light on the dash on it turned out when the were having problems bleeding them the unplugged the abs pump anyway I took it to Lexus and the reset all the nights and charged me 30 min labour so all sorted now. And on the plus side they cleaned the car inside and our witch I was going to get done after it had been in to them result

I hope the shop that gave you a car back full of warning lights gave you a heck of a deal. I wonder if they even bled it at all or just said screw this and gave it back to you with a bill after their massive fail.

i hate to say, but a shop that doesn't really know what they are doing. scary thought, especially they are touching brakes -- an important safety feature
