Default Continental Extreme DWS - WOW

After putting 40,000+ miles on my Pilot Sport AS Plus (which was my favorite tire I've ever had on any vehicle), I had a set of these installed at Discount Tire and all I can say is WOW.

I am incredibly picky when it comes to tires. Those crappy Cooper Zeons lasted all of one day and I hated them 2 minutes after I drove away from Discount Tire on Friday. Harsh riding, noisy and very sluggish handling. Also had a lovely vibration in the seats when going over 50 mph. Terrible. The total opposite of the Michelins.

The Contis are absolutely amazing. HUGE difference in ride and handling between these and the Coopers, and the DWS feels almost identical to the Michelins and is better in some regards. Smooth as silk, eerily silent, a more comfortable ride than the Michelins and to me they handle very crisply.

I know there have been a lot of complaints about flat spotting, balancing difficulties and squirmy handling. I have NONE of those complaints or issues. These ride and handle incredibly, and for $744 out the door vs. $1300 for the Michelins, it is an absolute no-brainer.

Maybe they'll wear too quickly or develop flat spots, who knows, but for now they are perfect.

I hope that helps anybody who is looking for tires.

Happy New Year to all.

Yea I was very impressed but I didn't use mine very long before selling my car. A few others locally to me also got them after my experience. I had them on my new car and they were just as good with more miles on them. Not one issue at all.

I have these on my Gs430. They are brand new. Although I dont have basis for comparison on this vehicle, I must say the tire is top notch. In the rain or dry conditions.
I kept reading how sensitive the traction control is on these cars and how I will hate its intrusions and will not be able to shut it off since mine is a 06. But these tires grip well. Not once has the traction control kick in,

One complaint. I hear a faint hum coming from the rear at 80+mph. I can not tell if this a vibration, or just tire noise, thats how distant it is. But its bothering me a little.
Either the wheel is bent on the inside, or the balancing is a bit off?

Good looking tire too by the way.

^ when was the last time you rotate the wheels. Change front to back on both side. DWS is radial tires so don't cross the rotation, left tires stay on the left and right stay on right.

I did get traction control kick in but that was on ice and snow. I had to be super gentle and had to use some rocking motion to get unstuck once. Anyway, in MD we hardly get big snow storm so DWS is perfect.

I will do it when I take it for a oil change. I just got the car 3 weeks ago and tires were brand new. Still had a sticker on one of them.
Can tires sound so rumpy? Its barely heard, but I work in a AV field so every little sound matters to me.

All tires get louder as the life comes to an end. I like them just not to impressed with tread wear. Very good in heavy rain, pretty quiet and good on my lazy day trips in the country. I don't know about snow because luckily there hasn't been any in KY yet.

why must this tire be INSIDE\OUTSIDE tire? cannot flip them for camber wear...

good tire warranty... 50K? to confirm... do you have 245/40/18 tires?
