Default Arm Rest stuck

Need your help guys.

Not sure what I put in there but can't get it to open. It slides back but it does not lift up. I could peek through and see that nothing's preventing from lifting up the are rest so I'm thinking it's something in the top bin that's getting it stuck. (maybe phone charger cable?)

Any idea how i can fix this. the top cover is air tight so I can't even see what the problem would be.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

Yup. It does click in place when I slide it all the way forward. But I think you're supposed to slide it back and then open it. But it doesn't open either way (forward or backward)...

This has happened to me. Problem was, I had something stuck.

I freed it up by sliding the armrest back and forth while pulling up on the armrest. Be careful....DON'T force it!!

I've had the armrest stuck before and usually was able to free it by sliding back and forth but this time it's really stuck. I've hit it, shook it and pulled on it to the point where it might even break but this thing just won't open.

this thing is air tight( no openings) so flashlight won't help. If you slide it back there's a little opening from the back but it doesn't help.

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to disassemble this.

I had to give Kudos to Merclexus's wife who showed me the way and merclexus for his accurate reporting. It worked for me to do what she did. I hit each side of the console box three times with my fist and it was enough to shake down the offending obstruction. Part of our problem was putting in the heavy GPS cord and it managed to lift up the tray when we closed the armrest top. That locked it.or better put, jammed it. Happily my wife had one end of the wire sticking out of the 'wire slot' below the console release handle and I could pull out much of the wire. Then before reading merclexus and several hours of frustration, the hitting did the trick. Thanks

This happened to me once, accelerated on an empty back road and slammed on the brakes, freed up my wallet which was causing it to stick. Worked!

There are plastic buttons that connect the tray to the armrest. The buttons grind off when you open and close the armrest. I replaced one with screw. No sticking. Hopefully, the screw won't compromise the plastic on the tray.
