Cam gear freeplay/grinding noise at startup; help!!!
My 2007 gs350 has over 80k on it and has been to the lexus shop 3 times for this problem. supposedly fixed every time and they even had a master tech fix it the last time; which was about a year ago. started experiencing the same problem about 2 weeks ago and luckily, the car is still under warranty due to Lexus of America extending the powertrain warranty to 7 yrs/100k.
Just wondering if anyone else has continued to experience this problem and if so, what have you done? For those that may know more about the laws and so forth on this type of situation, any recommendation? I contacted LOA to do something about it, and I believe all they're going to do right now is pretty much send me to the dealership/mechanic again. Highly doubt this is going to resolve anything. Probably just trying to bandage this up and cross their fingers until my warranty expires.
Please help!!!!

Lexus of America is sending a mechanic; someone above Master Technician level, to come and look at my car tomorrow. I'm hoping this person's going to be able to spot the problem and correct it, but I still have so much doubt since they replaced all the necessary parts twice with the problem coming back each time... just hope the problem doesn't return after my warranty expires.

Hate opening an old thread but did they fix the problem? I am having the same problem with my 07 IS250. I thought it was starter related but I just picked up my car from the shop today for other service and it happened for the first time that a mechanic heard it. He immediately knew it was related to the Cam gears and said I need to go to the dealership to get it fixed since it'll be warranty work.
