Default Looking to replace my stock winter set up: 10 spoke 17"s for 18" G Spiders

What up CL fam.

I'm looking to get 18" G spider wheels off Sewell so I can be still be looking somewhat fresh this winter. I'm wondering if I should get the staggered 18 x 8, 18 x 8.5 or if I should just get 8.5 all around. I'm wondering what the pros and cons are for staggered vs 8.5 all around. (My summer set up is Vossen CV1s 20 x 9, 20 x 10.5)

This winter set up is all about performance, (def. do not want low profile tires, this set up will replace my stock 10 spoke 17x7's) (ps in the near future, be on the lookout in the wheel and tire classifieds if you are looking for stock 3GS 10 spoke 17" wheels)

What tire sizes would I need if i want to get the staggered set, or what sizes do I need if i get the 8.5 all around. Which tire set would be more pricey, the staggered or the 8.5? My guess is 8.5 would be more pricey on tires, but I would be able to rotate the tires to any way I choose, unlike staggered where you can only rotate the fronts with the fronts and the rears with the rears.

PS the price difference of staggered 18 x 8,18 x 8.5 vs the 18 x 8.5 all around is about 1 dollar on Sewell.

if you drive where there it is a lot of snow and you are concerned about performance a narrower rim/tire would be better, id go with the 8s all around.
For tire size 225/40/18

If you do decide to go staggered just make sure the overall diameters are as close as possible.

its going to be hard to get tires to match up right. These staggered rims are originally meant for an is350.

with 225/40/18 in the front
and 255/40/18 rear

which woudl give you a front rolling diameter of 25.09" and a rear of 26.03"
This large of a difference wouldnt work with a gs350awd

If it was me I would go 225/40/18 all around even if you go with the staggered rims.

you can, but with those rim widths its tough b/c you also want to stay withing the stock overall tire diameter ( so you dont mess with the speedo and odometer)

For example I have the f sport 19" rims and they are 19x8 and 19x9
I went 225/40/19 front: 26.1" diameter
255/35/19 back: 26" diameter

Those are close enough where I wont have any problems with the differential / tranny.

However yours are 18x8 and 18x8.5
Use this site and play around with different sizes:http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

but like i said you have to keep the over all similar to the stock (17" overall set up diameter) rule of them is within 3%

It likely won't be any help, but I just put 18x 8.5 the whole way around on my is250 awd because the 8.5s were actually cheaper than the 8's. Tire size for my car was 255/35/18 to be as close to stock as possible...

Thanks for the input. I also was wondering why the 8.5's were cheaper than the 8's. Regardless, i might just go with the same route u took. Is 255/35 a hefty/thick size tire?

So i decided if i get these wheels, I will go 225/40/18 all around or 255/35/18 all around even though it's staggered. Will 255/35/18 be thick enough for winter though? I live around the NYC area and am wondering if this set up will be ok.

why dont you just do 245/40/18...i beleive thats the stock set up for the gs430 with the 18in rims...so you are staying within stock spec.

Id stick with the 17" rims/tires they will perform better in the snow. May not look as good but I rather have these in NY. If you do upgrade I would suggest the same size and the narrower rims.

My G Spider wheels are riding on 245/40-18 DWS tires. Best tires for me.

My reason for choosing this DWS tires:
-Tread life # is pretty high
-All season tires (I don't want to change tires for change of season)
-Price
-Good test numbers on Tirerack

I'm not (always) an aggressive driver, so I hardly push these tires to the limit.
