a member here posted that some cover in the LS460 engine works on GS350s to muffle the noise a bit. try the search tool. i'm pretty sure the cover doesn't work on the GS300s though.

Its normal, annoying at times but normal. Some cars are even louder, like its breaking.

ever heard a 1999 civic si "honda-tick" you'll think your ticking noise is nothing after you hear those valves tick.

P.S. I know its not our valves ticking i just was using the reference to relate the sounds.

it's normal and you'll get used to it. High pressure fuel injectors make your valves sound like the ticking. if you keep the throttle open, you're exhaust will drown it out!

Yeah, when I test drove my GS two years ago, I pulled over to inspect the car and heard it. it was so bad I called the L dealer's service dept and the advisor explained it to me and put this issue to rest. I would recommend checking your VIN to see if you need to have the valve springs replaced under the recall a year or so ago... if you search the forums you'll see some good info on this topic. I had mine replaced (for free) and the car runs great!
