Default Factory Wheels Painted (What do you guys think?)

Just had new tires put on the factory wheels and do not want to waste them so I took a different approach at a new look. ISF center caps and ISF gunmetal touch up paint on the wheels. After paint we noticed it almost matches the door trim. I am going to paint that next. That's as legit as you can get without new wheels. I know holy wheel GAP!

No bad, not bad at all. This should definitely hold you over until, you get get some bigger wheels, and lower it!

I am not a fan of blacked out wheels.
But, if you want something like that, I'd rather see the factory stock wheels blacked out. IMO, it's the dumbest thing to spend thousands on aftermarket wheels then black them out so they can't be seen. A shiny or painted lip with black centers is fine...but the whole wheel blackened makes it disappear. Looks like 2 holes in the side of your car.

With that being said, stocked wheels blacked out makes more sense to me. Just lower the car and it will have a custom look.

Looks like it came out good, you should try bronze if you get bored with black.

Yea I painted the calipers black with a silver foil on it that says "Lexus". You can see the difference the pictures do not do the gun metal justice. Big thing I like is how they match the door trim looks like they belong on the car.

This time, it's really not a "to each their own" deal. It's a clear observation.
I see cars everday with blacked out wheels. You can't see the design unless you're right up on the car. You can't see the action of a moving wheel that makes them so cool. There is no contrast to the car. Just looks like empty spaces. That's not an opinion it's an observation.

Here's the "to each his own" part. If people like spending money on wheels that don't enhance the car, look like they disappear and provide no enhancement, I guess they have that right. I truly don't get it.
At least with shiny or painted lip you get some contrast.

I'm a fan of black centers with polished lips, but the color of your car makes a difference, I tried it on a red GS and I'm not too impressed. I'm going for non lipped concaves in machined silver this time! And definitely 20's!

See, this looks so much better. The shiny rims contrast the black center and frames the tires. Without the shiny part, it's just a black hole.

I'm okay with blacked out stock because they are so small that you don't lose much in the black-out. Plus, they didn't cost a grip so the disappearing effect is negligible.

People can do what they please, doesn't have to make sense to me.

All in all, the op did a good thing by modding the stockers. Just needs to lower it to get a better result. If you don't or can't spend big bucks, painting stockers is a no brainer imo.
