Default 2006 Gs430; How Long Can I Drive On A Spare?

Hi,

I hit a crater-size pothole on Saturday night and blew out front right tire. Rim and tire look OK, I hope I only need to have the tire re-sitted on a rim. It's a '06 GS430 with stock 18' rims and brand-new Conti DWS all-around (luckily, I bought tire insurance). Question, is it OK to drive on a spare for a few days until I get the car to a tire shop? About 40 miles daily, under 50MPH. I am mostly concerned about inflicting any suspension/alignment damage.
Thanks,

Why? Is your spare not the same as your other wheels and tires?

I believe the donut is only meant to get your car to safety and not as a replacement for every day driving.

^ true, but I have done it before. I needed to use my car so I can't wait for the wheel to be fix.

drive slow and take it easy. I think limit for spare is 50mph but I have done 55mph on 55mph road. Can't go too slow else I might get run over by ppl who do normal speed which is about 65mph or 70mph. Drove like that for several days doing 60 miles each day. Put the full wheel back and everything was fine. No vibration or anything at any speed.

a full wheel won't fit inside the hole in the GS430 '06, I tried.

huh? can you take a picture of your trunk with the spare? full size spare doesn't fit in the US spec (and japanese spec i think) cars because it's too "high"

thanks for the pics!

wow this is very weird and interesting. how come all the cars are designed so differently?! in your region you can fit full size spare in the trunk and everything is still flat, umm.... unless last time i didn't put the stock wheel in there right, it was sticking out quite a bit!

^ agree, that looks very roomy in there while in my car it's so very tight. The jack is in another compartment all by itself, doesn't sit in with the spare like this. And I don't remember the reason but I can't have the wheel turn face down like this.

I'm full of envy now.

He gets less power and more weight. They're trying to slow him down!

I suggest swap the donut with a full in the front and throw the donut on the back. Front is way more important, turning and braking while back all it does is accelerate. You can drive with it as long as you want, I hit 100mph on a donut that think sounds horrible. Ofcourse not on my lexus but on my acura, also I took a 40mph turn going 85mph while the donut was on the back and I felt my tail about to loose traction. So drive carefully and slowly you should be fine. But defiantly put that spare on the back.

I AM F IN JEALOUS OF THAT FULL SPARE YOU GOT OK
