I appreciate you trying to help. But I have no idea what this means.

Anyway,

Here is some more impressions from my gs430 experience. I continue to love, and I mean love this car. If you drive it like a little old lady there is not much difference between this car and most others. But when you push it, you know what is special about it. Passing cars on 2 lane highways feels so effortless and stress free it almost feels like you are operating a computer simulation rather than propelling a huge hunk of metal down the road at 80mph. This is a road trip kind of car.

Mark Levinson sounds awesome from a good dvd-audio disk. I wish there was more disks available. I am thinking of installing a vaistech MultiMediaLinQ so I can hook up an external hard drive and have my entire music collection available at the touch of a button.

I realized that my annoying rattle was not coming from the dash. I realized this after noticing that I did not hear the rattle when someone was sitting in the passenger seat. Now I keep the passenger seat belt buckled and the car is mostly rattle free.

The trunk is a little heavy to lift up. Is that normal or do I need new shocks?

Despite the fact that my old sc400 was much smaller, it actually had a bigger gas tank. Combine that with the fact that the gs430 gets around 1.7 less mpg, I definitely notice the gas gauge going down quicker which means more visits to the gas station. In hindsight, I think I should have purchased a slightly newer gs350 instead. Just as fast and better mileage. But I can’t complain about the silky smooth effortless performance. It’s like butter. But maybe not worth the cost.

To make matters worse, now my colleagues at work always want me to drive when we go out for lunch. It’s just so friggin more comfortable than having to crawl into the back seat of a compact coup. One coworker actually prefers the back seat. She says it feels like she is being chauffeured, which she is. But that is kind of a fun predicament. But man, that gas gauge goes down awful quick.

I agree the gas tank goes down very fast on these cars. My range is typically 225 miles on the GS460 tank.

VML is a good add.

Wow. I think I have about a 300 mile range. I guess you have to pay to play.

You probably do more highway cruising. I do a higher share of city driving - so only manage 14mpg. Long distance high speed driving (90+) I get around 21-22 mpg.

I ran into a similar problem last night when installing the VAIS in my 06 430. Wouldn't start, beeped a lot (some attributable to VAIS I believe) and was dead. I received the check VGRS message as well, and was concerned. I disconnected the negative battery terminal for 5-10 minutes, and then got the sound like the starter was trying but not enough juice. I borrowed some cables and jumped it off my wife's 470. Going to get a battery today.

There is somethingg seriously wrong with that kind of gas mileage. I have recorded and manually calcualted mileage and gas consumtion on my 06 GS430 since I got it. In 40,000 miles the worst in town has been 24 mile per imperial gallon, which is 10% bigger than a U.S. gallon so still 21.5 miles per gallon. Highway it runs 28 to 32 mpg, depending on how hard I am dangling. Again, need to deduct 10%.

I have also done a lot of testing using 87, 89 and 92 octane fuel. In town, there is absolutely no difference in mileage on any of them. On the highway, at speed limit and driving normal, absolutly no noticeable difference. In the mountains on twisty troads and spirited droiving, the 92 octane is more responsive and gets 2 to 3 mpg better mileage.

That is odd. During a normal week of no school, I drive 90% city and 10% hwy. With those driving habits, I get about 17-19 mpg or 250-275 a tank on about 14 gallons. With 90% hwy and 10% city, I get about 28 mpg or 400 miles on 14 gallons. This is with the GS460. Love road trips with this car! I just need the ML+ setup and I'm good with music/videos.
