They are killing the RL so you know. I think, unlike most on here, that Acura makes a great product. Not 100% on the new RL body but it has a lot of tech features to offer. My wife drives the V6 TSX Tech. Its a quick little car and has given us no problems.
My friend owns an Acura and Lexus store so I can put you both in touch if you really want to make this move. My only fear would be how the RL's value holds up when they kill it from production.

I think the main benefit of the RL is the better NAV system and the SH AWD. Outside of that its MUCH slower with worse MPG, its Accord based, its way uglier/blander with no panache at all. Then it has horrible resale and no aftermarket support if you want to mod the car. To top it off the brand is in a complete rut and dealer service will be worse. There is a REASON there is 10k off the price.
It is not a bad car at all but I would maybe trade the GS in for a new 5 series or a move up, not a move down.

Also the car has a face that even its mother could not love.

Going from an Acura to a Lexus is night and day for me in many ways. The RL is nice but with a 5-speed transmission, why would you ever buy one? This is 2010 going on 2011 where most cars are 6-speeds and Audi is bringing 8-speeds accross its entire line up for 2011. The RL at best gets 23 mpg....Sad! I do like the car and you don't see many on the road.......We all know why that is. Keep the GS or move up to something better.

service at my Acura dealer is just as good as the Lexus dealer but they own both. IMO its not all about brand its the people that they hire. There is a reason why the Acura dealer does so well for them. I know this is not the case in all areas
Acura has really good lease deals. I would suggest to lease the car if you want to move forward.

I'm sorry, but I'd never do it. That RL is displeasing to the eye. At least to my eye. Honda has really gone a different direction when it comes to design lately. I owned a TSX when it first came out and loved it. I also loved the 3TL. Since then, all styling has gone downhill.

I went from an '05 RL to an '07 GS350. Can't say anything bad about the RL. Just that for me, the GS was better just a bit in (almost) every way.
Ergonomically, the RL is perfect. Everything where it should be and within reach without straining a muscle. Only thing about the RL interior that I didn't like were the seats. They were comfortable - I just prefer the tight leather of the GS then the RL.
Mechanically, the ride and engine are good. You do feel the weight of the RL when driving. The engine needs more low end torque and I didn't like that I had to take the engine to high revs to get some passing power.
It's a matter of likes/dislikes. Go with what will make you (and not others) happy.
