Default Air Conditioner filter (read very carefully before breaking anything)

How can I change the air conditioner filter on my 06 GS300?

Step 1) Search this forum for one of the many threads and posts already covering this subject.

welcome to clublexus. this topic has been covered in the diy thread, which is one of the stickies on this forum. and similar topic also came up just a few days ago.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ere-first.html

with the 3gs out for few years already, a lot of topics are probably covered before already and a search would come up with a lot of good information

If you're doing this yourself, please, please, make sure that your air intake selection is on the 'outside air' setting. I bought my wife an '06 GS300 from a private seller, and when I tried changing the filter I discovered that the arm to the air intake door was broken. This means that the 'recirculation' feature is now gone! And, of course, you can't just replace the broken arm. You have to buy the entire A/C blower assembly....about $750 bucks!

So, please make sure you air intake selection is set, before changing your filter!

it needs to be set on Recirculate, not fresh/outside. Procedure is in the manual.

yeah like twylie mentioned, it has to be in CIR mode, NOT fresh air mode!

You're correct. My mistake! Got the two mixed up.

I was under the impression that breaking that "door" is a $1,500 mistake...not 750. And Lexus WILL NOT cover that, unless of course your dealer is the one who breaks it.

I haven't yet replaced mine, but I assume it's all self explanatory after you get that "outer" cover off (just pop it off I guess) and put the car in recirc mode before shutting it off.

of course it's not covered, it's installer's mistake. yes, it's very expensive mostly not ***' of parts, but the fact that they have to take apart the dash to change it. so labor is what killing it

not a great video, but shows how to get to it. The last second, you can see the filter. It just lifts up and out at that point. I need to take a better video of it this weekend as it seems to be a common question from new owners.

I bought an used GS300 with a broken hinge on the cabin filter. It is a pain to remove the glove box and under dash on the passenger side. You have to replace the whole blower system. New part will cost around $600 from online Lexus dealer. I spent over 2 hours to replace the blower system that I bought from savage yard and things are easy to break if you are not paying attention to what you are doing.

Anyway, I bought a whole AC evaporator system and I only use the blower system. Anyone needs an AC evaporator box in the dash including 4 working servos, evaporator, duct, please let me know. I can sell this part to you cheap.

Thanks,
