gs350 smoother ride
#31
If you really want to be sure to fix the problem and are ok with the extra expense, I'd go to tirerack.com and pick out a 17" wheel you like and have one of the tires recommended in this thread mounted along with sensors. Going to a 17" wheel (along with the right tire) will definitely help the ride as you'll have more sidewall. You'd be going to a 45 series tire as opposed to a 40.
Having said that, I think just swapping the stock tire for a same size tire brand suggested on this forum will make a difference, but going to a 17 would be more of an assurance of making a very noticeable difference.

As someone had suggested, I had lowered the tire pressure in my runflats and the ride is noticeably smoother. It's FAR from what I would consider ideal but for the length of time I plan on keeping this car, it might be bearable instead of spending money on a new set of tires. That said, I still might get the new tires. I'll give it a month or so and see how I feel then.

RE: Rought Ride
Sorry to hear about your problem. I too would recommend swapping the tires. I have a 2006 GS430 that came with Nitto tires that got so horribly loud that my car drove more like a truck. In June, I purchased a set of 4 Michelin Pilot Sport AS/Plus. I can't describe to you the improvement in the ride. Feels like I'm running on air. Can't even feel when I hit a pothole. Give it a shot and you will be pleasantly surprised. Remember, to get your front end aligned as well after getting the new tires. The tires aren't cheap as I paid about $1200 for the set. Good luck!

Switch to michellin pilot sport a/s tire will improve your ride. Air it up to minimum of 36 psi will improve your ride comfort too.
Hard to believe, But after I load something on your trunk like a loaded golf bag will improve the ride.

RE. I HAVE FOUND QUIET TIRES!!!!!! Finally!
Hello everyone, I'm new here and looking for advice. Two days ago I purchased a used 2008 gs3500 for my wife. Her 2001 gs300 (still running strong and steady at 150k) is being handed down to our 16 year old . My wife test drove many vehicles before deciding on a 3rd generation gs.
The sad news is that she currently hates how the vehicle rides. It is a much rougher ride than her loved 2001. Seems to be rougher and more loud than other 2008's and 2009's gs's she test drove. The vehicle came with stock 18" rims and Yokohama tires (245/40/18).
The dealer won't take the car back. Apparently in California you need to purchase insurance ($250) to be able to return the car within the first 48 hrs. Stupid me declined that insurance.
Trading in the vehicle just doesn't make economic sense since I all ready paid license and taxes (at a hefty 10%). I would like suggestions from others on this forum on how I might make the ride smoother and quieter. I know tires can make a big difference. thanks in advance, John

I DID EXACT SAME THING & HAD SAME TIRE. THE CAR ROARED!
I have researched And drove a 2008 with every diff Tire on it.
I GOTAT SEARS FOR $787.00
4 Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum 2107193 - 245/40R18
I PROMISE! I have drove w Michelin ps2 ...primacy...faulken....continental / serenity
I cannot stand a NON quiet car. Mine had the Yokohama 18" AND THEY ROARED AND I COULD Not RETURN THE CAR EITHER!!!!
BUT. GETTING THESE KUMHO HAS TOTALLY GIVEN ME SILENCE!!!
I give my word. I had never heard of this brand. My car salesman would call at random when one would come in with diff tires that I could come up amd drive. THESE WILL GIVE YOUR WIFE BACK HER LEXUS!!!!

I had the same feelings with my 2008 GS with 10K miles.
Those stock Yokohama tires are terrible and the reason your wife hates the ride. Go buy the Bridgestone Serenity tires. Her opinion will change. GUARANTEE!
